Hello!
I am Michael Shaw, Founder and President of the Indie Studio Flippin’ Fun Video Games, or FFVD Games for short. Way back in October of 2012, I created this name for a project that I can’t remember anymore. Now, since I have discovered so many ways to easily create a great game, this has evolved to the point that you see it in now. My ultimate goal is - like most game developers - is to make my business known throughout the country - and hopefully the world.
How did this all start, and what are the problems?
Project T.O.Y. was originally for a project in my Unity class. I decided to take it to the next level, as a few people showed interest in my product. At that point, I decided to develop another title on SmileBASIC for Nintendo 3DS and do a collaboration with S Advanced Technologies on one of their games, the title of which I cannot reveal at this time. But game development comes with holes all over it.
On February 20, 2016, I was just finishing up some finishing details on a scene. I went to the scene prior to the one I had edited, and all of the objects in it were gone. I go into another scene, and it was also empty. Turned out that all but three scenes were entirely empty. Luckily, my scripts and models were spared, so I completely redid the game. It was a pain in the you-know-what, but it was worth it.
What exactly is Project T.O.Y.?
Allow me to explain, random user who asked that question when they clicked on this. This is a First Person, RPG Horror game about a teenager named John Callcott trying to rescue her from her captor without killing the captor or David, a mysterious figure (sorry English teachers who think that’s a run-on sentence). You can view the teaser images on the other page and teaser poems - an original idea - here. Inspired by Sandra Cisneros’s House On Mango Street and Nintendo’s The Legend of Zelda series, you must piece together the story in any order you want. The enemies? Well, I’ll let you figure it out once the game releases (and before you play the game and criticize the mechanic, it is an original idea inspired by quite a few things that I’ll reveal at a later date).
Why GameJolt?
Please keep in mind that this is a demo to a much larger title that will be revealed at a later date. That full game will (hopefully) be published on Steam for Mac OS X/Windows. Since I don’t have everything in order yet, I can’t really put anything onto Steam like I can with something like what you’re viewing this on.
I think that’s all that I have to say. If you have any questions, email me or, if the answer already exists, check here.
