Work has started on 3D backgrounds! Come take a look!

Hello everyone! Thanks for taking a look at this newest devlog! Here’s what I did the last two weeks in PMC, my jankenpon-memory-based pirate adventure game!

Unfortunately, I got sick this past week, so my time was mostly spent sleeping and playing Dark Souls 3^^ Anyways, the week before I did get some work done!

As said in the previous devlog, I have started working on the backgrounds for the game. So here is my process:

First I listed all backgrounds I need to do - 10 in total! I sketched them out, and tried to define the main elements. I was particularly interested in the color schemes used and the different moods. Here they are (warning for spoilers I guess!)

Then onto 3d modeling and stuff! Here is the only one I got to work on. Note : I sketched them all in that cube shape, but they will NOT be all like this! However, this one is like this for now in 3d^^

A closer look at the concept art, made in Krita.

This one is relatively easy, there is not a lot of elements to model. The different walls, the bed and that’s it :

After that, onto texturing!

Here I am really on new territory. I’m not sure of what I’m doing, and if I will keep this look… But I need to try stuff to see what works, right?

Anyway, finally, here’s the final look in Unity :

What do you think? I’m not sure about the gradient on the wall… I still need to add some lights also!

And that’s it for this devlog. See you in ~2 weeks!
