*To my version. But I have no definitive plans to return to Outertale, as my focus remains on my new project. But once that is complete, I might be open to returning. No guarantees, though.
------------------
After the 5.04 update, I gave control of the project to WS3917 and other community members. Together, they have created the 5.05 update, 5.06 update, and 5.10 update.
These updates add new content (borders and colored sprites), new features (sprint option and better mobile controls), and new translations as well as bug fixes!
------------------
But after the full release, and even more after I gave up my leadership, I lost motivation to continue working on the game. because, all the contributors, translators, and technicians who made updates afterward, did so under the assumption that the game is complete. I didn't want to uproot what was already established as "Outertale" by the game's release.
In short, the project outgrew me, and became something bigger than myself. Cliche, but true.
------------------
But there ARE things I think can be improved about the game, dialogue wise. Story wise. Battle wise. There ARE things I wish I'd done differently, and who's to say my motivation for Outertale is gone FOREVER? That's a pretty long time.
So I have decided to SPLIT Outertale into two sides.
The community version, hosted on GameJolt, which is the version of the game that was updated until early 2025. Current version: 5.10
My personal "official" version, hosted on Itch, which is comprised solely of content created under my leadership, which I have the freedom to update if I want to. Current version: 5.04
My version will remain English-only, and if I update it, and someone wants to translate or make content around it, they will need to make their own page and do all of the work themselves.
