Modern advancements allowed robots to be grown in tanks rather than constructed on assembly lines. While more efficient than manufacturing them, the robots themselves always seemed surprised at seeing it.

IG’s March of Robots 2024 Day 8:

The Kingmaker protocol was controversial, as giving robots authority over others is risky, but some tasks simply needed the additional efficiency.

This has worked out so far, but people are watching nervously.
