I don't understand how the Sega Genesis's FM synthesis works. I want to learn how, but nothing I can find explains it so I can understand.

I wanted to experiment with a certain familiar song into a Smash styled remix (like Gizmo would ever join, since he's not originally a game character) so I can practice using leitmotifs and changing the style.
