Oh hey, a game inspired by ADF. nice.
Gonna put my thoughts in here as i play the game, but so far (having beaten the first two levels), I thought I'd simply mention my first impressions.
I enjoy the artstyle a lot. Whilst yeah it's maybe "basic" compared to other games, 2D or otherwise, it reminds me a lot of old scratch projects and their artstyles, if maybe a bit more polished. Character designs also give off that old 2010s vibe that are silly and goofy and the like.
As for gameplay, it's a nice take on ADF's gameplay style, if maybe a bit boring due to the fact that the AIs aren't particularly. . .aggressive. Now, this might be alleviated in the difficulty update coming. . .today jesus chri- but in Acarmedes' level, I only really got attacked by him twice, and the last one was cut short by my drone returning with the last sample during the encounter. The members, too, are relatively passive for the most part, which is a shame as the way the Drone works could probably lead to very hectic moments of having to juggle carrying out important drone tasks whilst dealing with the threats coming your way.
Speaking of the Drone, is it weird for me to say I kinda prefer the way the drone works in this game compared to ADF? one of my bigger gripes with ADF is how much time is spent on the drone panel just moving around and whilst the unique enemy movements and such help ADF's case here it can still get quite bland at times. in AIL, the Drone is much more of your typical "FNaF" element which can be seen as a detriment, and in some regards it definetely IS less unique, but I think that it's made up for with how it feels, it's just held back by the lackluster AI IMO. I think if things were tweaked so that you would have to juggle handling the Drone Panel and your surroundings in order to survive, I think the game would be so much more chaotic and fun in my opinion.
With that said though, the game's pretty damn fun still, and I'm eager to see where it goes from here! Certainly will keep an eye on this.
now, when i saw that this was inspired by ADF, i was interested, however, the game itself has many flaws
aside from meh grammar, the game is REALLY boring to play and the nights are way too long
it's alright to take inspiration, but i feel like this completely misses what made ADF fun in the first place
ADF having you search for custards kept you engaged even if there weren't any enemies, but here, you click a tile and wait
the game is just a lot of waiting, and the enemies aren't aggressive enough to justify the amount of time you spend just waiting for the drone to come back
i've seen one of the other commenters say how they prefer how this game does drones as ADF has you spending a lot of time on the drone panel, but i think this game has the opposite problem of you barely spending time on the drone panel, and i find the loop of weaving between enemies and searching for custards a lot more fun than just swinging your flashlight from side to side
ok with the criticisms aside i think this game could work if it forced you to track the enemies/threats on the grid more, maybe with the scan having it's cooldown cut down drastically, the alarm is right here, but, from the looks of things, you use it against 1 threat, and even then it's not mandatory
maybe you'd have to check all the cells and if a certain enemy is there you use the alarm, otherwise they kill you, idk
and also PLEASE for the love of god make the drone come back sooner, the nights have no right to be this long
sorry if it was a long read, but i hope some of the feedback given could be used to improve the game, as it left really bad first impressions and i didn't even get to beating the 2nd level, it was that boring
What is the size of the game banner (just wondering 👍)?
Okay, this is definitely the best game owned/created by GXM, I love the really cool mechanics! I'm still on the MireX level and I have to say so far, it's my favorite level because I really enjoy the quick time events within the battle. I'm making a YouTube video on this and I'm definitely making more in the future. Would highly recommend.
it's normal Acarmades changes phases during the fight?
