What do you think?

Hey, your game looks awesome! I’d recommend doing the following to turn it into a bigger success on Game Jolt. :)

1. Post about your game, news and updates in as many communities as it makes sense! Communities like Game Dev or Arts n Crafts will get your posts in front of thousands of users! Find more communities here: https://gamejolt.com/communities.
2. Write a bio on your profile! A complete profile always looks more legitimate in the eyes of the community. This is a great place to add in your website or other social channels.
3. Post and update your followers frequently to stay on their radar!

4. Consider adding more images and a cool header to your game's page!

just finished my first run of the game and i have to say that it's awesome!) the game sports nice, minimalistic pixel-art graphics, a fast-paced and strategic gameplay that heavily revolves around placing yourself in a correct position but still easy to get into, lots of interesting potions to use that provide a lot of replayability to the game, and also a bunch of cool items that help you make some builds and add even MORE to the game's replayability!) all in all, very nicely done!

although, i have two problems with the game in its current state - firstly, it may just be me, but Baldrik's sprite looks like he's naked from the middle, strolling around and throwing potions without any pants on - but, alas, it's not that big of a problem, and maybe it's a lot more easier to roll if you don't have anything weightening you down, jajaja!) alright, and secondly - the transition between the forest level and the desert/steppe one is a bit clunky - i think that making a fade in-fade out would've been better than just transporting Baldrik into the fray without any nice effects, but, as with the first problem, this is just a small graphical issue!) other than those two beforementioned problems, i haven't found any bugs in the game - the description didn't lie and i can clearly see that the beta-testers did their job correctly - hats off to them!)

all in all, this was a very neat little game with a unique and creative gameplay idea that is easy to get into and rather hard to master - but you get to it once you reach the desert boss guy (who is actually easier than some normal enemies, but that just may be me lucky enough to have a sack full of roll potions, jajaja). BreakBrainGames, you guys did a great job with Concoction Collector, and i wish you best of luck, nerves of steel and lots of inspiration in any future endeavors!) take care!

Looks epic

i am expirencing a glitch when i go passed the shop i only draw three potions so i cannot proceed to battle, help

Concoction Collector is a 2D deck-building roguelike featuring Baldrik, a knight who ended up working as a field medic in the war, so the only way he knows how to fight is using dangerous concoctions !

The game features a unique battle system where each card needs to be played every round, but the order they are played in is what matters. Couple in the fact that you can attempt to dodge most attacks, and be ready for some tense situations where you stop thinking which cards you are playing but how you are playing them.

The game features:

  • 16 Potions, each with its own unique effect

  • 17 Items, to spice up your builds

  • 2 Levels and 2 Bosses at the end of each

  • 5 Monsters, each with a unique attacking style and pattern

  • 1 Shopkeeper, used to mix potions together, acting as a card-removal service with an extra benefit.

  • Ability to speed up animations

  • Short text based in-game tutorial to get you started

This project was originally made as a college project, but I might end up working on it in the future. However, the game will most likely in that case be ported to Godot

Credits for the music go to these wonderful authors on OpenGameArt.org:

  • nene for the first battle theme and second boss theme

  • Joth for the first boss theme

  • Pro Sensory for the main menu theme

  • Spring Spring for the second battle theme

  • Trex0n for shopkeeper Katrina's theme

  • RandomMind for the tutorial music

And a huge thanks to my best friends, who helped playtest the game for me, leading up to a relatively bug free product. Love you all.

And thank you for playing the game if you decide to do so. Hopefully you can get as much fun out of it as it was for me to create it, and I hope it makes you smile at least a little. Have a nice day.
