The history of the Zaporozhian Cossacks begins in the 15th century, in the territory of Zaporizhia. This region and the culture associated with it constitute the cultural heritage of Ukraine. Although the Cossacks were known for their great infantry, they fared very well also offshore - they were able to build Chaika's in just a few weeks, enabling crossing the Black Sea.
