Not bad. Nice gameplay, but the Storyline is a bit unclear. Nice fusion of psicological fear and RPG. Good game ;)
I think I may have found a bug, in the hallway with the girl who killed hersef with the boxcutter, I cant get the cutscene to unlock the door to initiate. I completed the alpha, so I know a few of the events that happen (such as the door) other than the fact that I cant progress, it's a great game 5/5
YAY! It's Complete. :3
All right, I've finally got this game to work, and i must say that it is an interesting idea, at least.
Drim to me is a horror-themed, Japanese styled RPG where you are thrust into a dark and depressing world of grimy and bloodied halls and corridors and tasked with doing... something.
The game opens with an incredibly short and unintentionally funny monologue before dropping you in an empty storeroom with some item pickups.
From there, it gets wierd. The main protagonist clearly has some issues to sort out, but it isn't really clear what these are.
Oddly enough for an RPG, drim(?) uses a scissors as a weapon, constantly complains of being sad and lonely and I think her family died horribly under mysterious circumstances.
She doesn't really have a character right now outside of being a sad female.
You can find a 'Soiled Panties' item in a public toilet whose item discription states; 'No-one in their right mind would wear these' but you can make her wear them anyway... (Perhaps that's saying something, I have no clue)
You also find these identical corpses of a woman with blue hair lying around in different states of tact. One of which is carrying around 'Bloody Scissors' which you can't equip as a weapon, but you find some 'Barber Scissors' which you can equip just fine.
My main problem with this game as a prototype is its design.
There is no real motivation for progression (Although I figured it what to do just fine for the most part), hit-detection on tiles is hit-and-miss meaning you can walk out of bounds in some areas, nothing tells you what the status conditions do, and the items that cure them can be consumed even if you are not ill, which made the game more difficult for no reason other than my own clumsiness.
Battles are also confusing and stressy. There are no animations as of right now for winding up and releasing attacks, and navigating through menus to find that one thing that will kill the enemy before it can do the same to you is frustrating.
It has some cool scares, and the sound design is unique, but overall it's just an OK idea.
You're really going to have to pull it out of the bag to make me re-visit this... It's Silent Hill lite at best and at worst, impenitrable.
By all means, good luck and don't give up with this. There is potential here.
I'm a little hesitant to try an unfinished RPG, but I eagerly look forward to being able to try a more polished version of the game :)
