Overview
Elektra is a mash between a Pac-Man-esque maze game and a danmaku game, with a rather loose and probably pretty bad story. You play as Handsome Jack, who needs to fix glitches and avoid dangerous viruses in the city and the System's cyberspace. He also has to deal with bigger and more dangerous programs capable of wreaking havoc.
Jack makes a choice in Cyberspace which has unforeseen consequences for him and the System (the Chaotic Choice). He shuts down a major program of the System to protect it, without realizing it's actually a vital part of the System's antivirus program. This only accelerates the virus infection and makes Jack's job much, much tougher.
Story
In a futuristic timeline, the entire world is dominated by a massive computer system simply known as the System. Its operators are essentially the oligarchs of humanity, as they can control the lives of every single person on an individual or group level.
A famed computer scientist completely disappears from the limelight after being publicly humiliated by the operators because one of her programs shut down an entire sector of the System for hours. She swore revenge before retreating into the shadows.
Only days later, power outages, physical manifestations of viruses, and general chaos plague a major city. A low-wage code monkey, Handsome Jack, is sent to fix the problems. He discovers that the issues are coming from the System itself, and he heads in to stop the viruses from completely shutting it down.
While in Cyberspace, Jack shuts down a part of the System. While it seemed like a good idea, his Chaotic Choice simply opened up the floodgates for more glitches and viruses to pour through...
