The Mysterious Remote Control and the Unknown Portal
One ordinary afternoon, Boyfriend and Girlfriend were at home when their TV remote suddenly stopped working. Faced with this inconvenience, they decided to go out and buy a replacement. They headed to an electronics store, but after checking their money, they realized they didn’t have enough to make the purchase.
Trying to find a solution, Boyfriend remembered a peculiar place where all sorts of objects were sold at low prices. Without thinking twice, he led Girlfriend to a mysterious van parked in an alley near the store. When they arrived, they saw that the vehicle was packed with random items, piled up chaotically, as if it were an improvised shop.
As they stepped inside, they were greeted by an enigmatic vendor who, after listening to their request, confirmed that he had a universal remote for sale. However, when they heard the price, they realized they still couldn’t afford it. Disappointment briefly filled them, but soon they came up with a plan to get the remote another way.
They decided to distract the vendor with small talk while, discreetly, Boyfriend grabbed the remote and hid it among his belongings. Then, without raising suspicion, they quickly left the van, successfully escaping with the stolen remote. They thought they had pulled off the theft without consequences, but they had no idea that the vendor was no ordinary person.
That same night, upon returning home, they found a mysterious package at their doorstep. Confused, they picked it up and saw that it contained a disc titled The Grieving of Friday, along with a note giving instructions on how to use the remote control they had stolen. What they didn’t realize was that this was part of a carefully planned trap by the vendor, who sought to punish them for their wrongdoing.
A Distorted World and a Darkened School
When they regained consciousness, Boyfriend and Girlfriend found themselves in an unfamiliar place. They stood in front of Elmore Junior High, the iconic school from The Amazing World of Gumball. However, something was off. They felt different, as if they had lost their original bodies and taken on completely new appearances.
The sky was covered in thick, dark clouds, and rain poured down relentlessly, soaking them in seconds. With no other choice, they decided to seek shelter inside the school building. As they stepped inside, they noticed that the hallways were eerily silent and completely deserted. To avoid drawing attention in case they encountered someone, Girlfriend took a cheerleader uniform from a locker and put it on, while Boyfriend simply grabbed a backpack to blend in as a student.
As they wandered through the school, trying to make sense of their situation and find a way back to their world, they were suddenly interrupted by a sound echoing through the hallway—sobbing coming from a nearby classroom. Cautiously, they approached the slightly open door and peeked inside...
Inside the classroom, they saw Gumball sitting at a desk, his head down, crying alone. The sight was unsettling, as the cheerful and expressive protagonist of the show now looked completely broken. Boyfriend and Girlfriend weren’t sure how to approach him, and instead of speaking right away, they decided to challenge him to a musical battle, hoping to get answers through the power of music.
What they didn’t know was that by starting this battle, they weren’t just testing their musical skills—they were about to trigger a series of events that would reveal the dark truth hidden within this strange world.

PROLOGUE:Â
Boyfriend and Girlfriend's TV remote had broken, so they went to a store to buy a new one. However, since Boyfriend didn’t have any money, he told Girlfriend that he knew a place where they sold any object imaginable. The place turned out to be a mysterious van parked in an alley right next to the store. They both went inside and asked the vendor if he had a remote. The vendor said yes, but when they asked the price, they realized they still couldn’t afford it. So, they distracted him and ran off with the universal remote.Â
As revenge, the vendor used a portal to insert a disc titled The Grieving of Friday into their reality, along with a note on how to use the remote — which was actually a trap to punish them for stealing.
When Boyfriend and Girlfriend got home, they saw the note and the disc. Thinking it was just an episode of The Amazing World of Gumball that was sent to them by mistake, they put it in the TV.
Girlfriend tried to change the channel, but when she pressed a button, she suddenly vanished, and the TV went static. Boyfriend was shocked and saw the note the van vendor had left — but ignored it, pressed several buttons, and also vanished, getting teleported into the disc.Â
Boyfriend and Girlfriend woke up outside Gumball’s school, but they no longer had their human bodies, which felt very strange. Since it was raining, they looked for shelter and entered the school. To avoid suspicion, Girlfriend put on a cheerleader uniform she found in a locker, and Boyfriend just threw on a backpack.
Inside, while trying to fix the remote and get back to their world, they heard someone crying in one of the classrooms. When they went in, they found Gumball sobbing. They tried to talk to him to understand what was going on — but what better way to start a conversation than with a battle?Â
SCENE 1: THE BEGINNING - LOSSÂ
•SCENE 2: GRIEVINGÂ
After that encounter with Gumball, Boyfriend noticed a deep sadness on his face. He also saw that Gumball wasn’t giving it his all, so he handed him a microphone — even though that wasn’t really the problem. Still, Gumball accepted it.Â
Meanwhile, inside Gumball’s mind, everything was blank and confusing. He was lost in thoughts, remembering everything that had happened to his siblings in that forest. As those memories came rushing back, he started to spiral into desperation...Â
•SCENE 3: DENIALÂ
Gumball begins to feel Darwin’s presence. He hears his voice calling out to him, and words start appearing, scribbled across the school chalkboard — discouraging, haunting messages meant just for Gumball.Â
Darwin wants to be with his brother again — not just in spirit, but entirely. He can’t exist as a soul without Gumball. But Gumball is still alive… so Darwin will try to change that.Â
At this point, Girlfriend sees Gumball as someone too far gone, lost beyond saving. She urges Boyfriend to fix this fast — before it’s too late.Â
•SCENE 4: MY AMAZING SADNESSÂ
Boyfriend senses something is very wrong with Gumball, but can’t figure out what — until he sees Gumball holding a rope.Â
Boyfriend doesn’t know what he’s planning, but pleads with him to stop. He also remembers Darwin’s voice from before but had dismissed it as an illusion. That is, until he blinks — and suddenly finds himself face-to-face with Darwin, who begins to explain what happened.Â
Boyfriend, once a skeptic about ghosts, realizes they’re real — and begins to panic during the song.
Afterward, he returns to see Gumball — and now, the floating bodies of Darwin and Anais beside him. Frozen with fear and confusion, Boyfriend struggles to understand what’s going on. He can’t believe Gumball would have the courage to take his own life.Â
He’s in shock, haunted by memories of others who ended their lives, and feels guilty for not believing what he was seeing. Boyfriend tries to intervene, to help Gumball, but before he can, he has to face Girlfriend — or so he thinks. In reality, it’s Darwin possessing Girlfriend’s body, trying to stop Boyfriend from preventing Gumball’s suicide.Â
Eventually, Boyfriend realizes Darwin’s possession won’t last forever. He decides to be patient and prepares to face Gumball again. Meanwhile, Girlfriend lies unconscious on the floor. Suddenly, the ghosts start approaching Boyfriend — but only to take Girlfriend with them. Boyfriend is torn on what to do. He tries to stop Gumball — but it’s already too late. Gumball has taken his own life.
Devastated, Boyfriend runs out of the classroom, determined to find Girlfriend and reverse what happened. He starts searching all the lockers for a solution until he remembers: the remote. Realizing that the remote might hold the answer, Boyfriend rushes to find a way to use it to undo everything that has happened. At that moment, he finds Girlfriend — she’s okay, but still seems… off.
What will happen next? What will they do to reverse the tragic events that have unfolded...?

Why does Gumball go through some stages and not all?

The five stages of grief model was proposed by psychiatrist Elisabeth Kübler-Ross in 1969, in her book "On Death and Dying". It was based on her work with terminally ill patients to describe how they coped with the news of their own impending death. Over time, the model was also applied to people experiencing any significant loss. The five stages are: denial, anger, bargaining, depression, and acceptance. Although not everyone goes through all the stages or in the same order, this model helped change the way grief is understood and supported.
