Merchants of the Silk Road is a simple trading game set in the year 800 AD. You play a merchant, travelling from city to city, buying and selling goods in an attempt to make a profit. Along the way, you'll travel across lush flatlands, vast deserts, and perilous mountains. How big of a profit will you make?

A Mac version is not available yet, but I will put it up as soon as I can get an Apple Developer Account.

This game is far from finished. There are many features I would love to include in future updates, such as the food system, dangers along the route, caravan mechanics, more subroutes etc, but I just haven't had enough time to do so yet. If you have any suggestions for my game, feel free to let me know. Thank you so much for viewing my page and trying my game!

About the Project

Merchants of the Silk Road is a school project created by high-school junior David Li. It's goals are to educate it's players about aspects of the Silk Road; the cities, the environments, the goods being traded, the dangers along the way etc,. While the game is far from finished, it still provides accurate information in a fun and unique format.

Version 0.3.0 has been released, which finally adds save data. The game will save your progress each time you enter a city. To use a save, click the 'Continue Save' button on the title menu. Next up are UI and UX tweaks, as well as additional mechanics!

Version 0.2.0 is now available. It adds updated visuals for all the town maps, UI improvements and fixes, updated spritework, and bug fixes. I am now going to be working on a title screen, more customization, and additional mechanics.

The first version, version 0.1.0, is released. It includes all the basic mechanics, such as journeying from city to city and buying and selling items. I am now working on the UI and UX Design of the buying and selling phases.
