What do you think?

This is a very simplistic #space #shooter. This is my entry for the #msdosjam. I was not planning to enter the jam myself, but I've been wanting to create a good DOS game for months now, and well, this was something I could do.

I chose for a very simplistic go in order to challenge myself to the fullest.

  • The Game was coded in #TurboPascal. I only stopped using that when Windows 95 forced me to, and I missed the language ever since.

  • In order to make it even harder on myself, I went for a #TextMode game. Simple you think, because it saves me the time to draw sprites, eh? But here's the rub... Try to make the game still look #cool. Not as easy as you think.

  • This game is a simple #arcade game. Just use the #mouse to control your spaceship and use the mouse button to shoot. #Kill as much as you can before you get yourself killed.

  • And since this is the DOS jam, this game runs in #DOS. In order to run it you'll need #DOSBOX. You can download DOSBox here.

As the development has only just begun, no screenshots yet or downloads yet. I hope to get them up soon.

Post Jam ideas: (None of these are promises)

  • A full wrapping automatically running DOSBox, mounting the needed stuff and exiting when done.

  • If I set the wrapper up with languages like C# I may even be able to use the API to add achievements and leaderboards.

See you soon!
