What IS "Versotale?"

VERSOTALE is an Undertale & Deltarune fangame set in its own alternate universe. This project follows an adult ASRIEL DREEMURR and his loyal royal guard UNDYNE through an underground populated entirely by those who lost the war many generations ago: The human race.

How did they even lose in the first place? What's life like down there for them? How is humanity dealing with all the problems that come with dwelling in an underground cavern for centuries? Do they at least have any dogs to pet? And if not, how do they even make it from day to day?

All these questions and more, answered in VERSOTALE! Come and join Asriel on his mission to free all of humanity from their prison. How he accomplishes his goal is in your hands.

FAQ

Will this be released in chapters or in full?

I'm planning on releasing the fangame in a chapter-by-chapter format. I don't know exactly what that's gonna look like yet, but I think a reasonable expectation is to see the typical "One area per chapter" pattern!

Will this be releasing on Android?

As of right now, my scope is making this work on PC. Eventually, though, this might wind up happening! PC takes priority, though.

What language translations will be available?

As of right now, just English. Though I fully intend on getting language translations done at some point.

When's the next chapter coming out?

When it's ready. Making a game takes time! Especially when real life exists.

Is Versotale based on any other AU with a similar concept?

Nope! Had this project cooking up since 2017 before even really getting acquainted with the broader fanbase, albeit in a MUCH different state. Any similar concepts are just that; similar concepts.

Who swaps with who?

Nobody swaps with anybody. Versotale is not a swap AU! The main point of divergence from the main Undertale timeline is that monsters won the war and humans got sealed underground. As such, the storyline and character roles are completely different. Any similarities to Undertale's role placements are purely coincidental.

If I read this AU's outdated comic versions on the Tumblr blog, will I be spoiled on events in this fangame?

Nope! Please, disregard any events that occur within those comic iterations.

How do you feel about other AUs using the concept of monsters winning the war and humans being trapped Underground?

Literally no problem at all. I don't own this mere concept. Besides, why try to stifle others' creativity?

On this note, do NOT annoy me or other people with a similar concept saying we're just copies of each others' AUs. There aren't exactly THAT many hoops one has to jump through to get from "Okay, in Undertale, humans won and monsters lost..." to "But what if monsters won and humans lost?" It is 99% likely we just landed on similar ideas. And even another's AU was inspired by Versotale, let 'em be inspired! Again, who am I to try and stifle others' creativity?
