10 Years: FNaM
Hey all, it's been a while. I'll keep it concise: there's been substantial work on FNaM entirely unbeknownst to everyone - in fact, it's further ahead in development than it ever was, last time the public saw it. But it's a while away from being playable, still...
I've had an idea sitting in the back of my mind for a few years now about the direction I want to take this game in, in the interest of making more than just a simple straight rip of the original FNaF formula - mechanically, and even narratively. I can't settle on making a mediocre copy-paste game because that's fun for neither you to play nor me to make; I'm confident that if this game ever releases, it'll be because I feel I've made something worth releasing.
With that said, the name/brand is likely to change - Nintendo just aren't cool with anything vaguely resembling their IP, and I don't want that kind of trouble even potentially. It's not important to the identity of the game though, and really it feels like baggage more than anything else.
While FNaM will not be studiosoft's main project, I'm open to furthering it's development. If game design is finalised, I may well announce the intent to commission for modellers / animators / VAs to flesh out necessary art assets that I struggle to do individually... stay posted !
I've shared a couple screenshots of where the game is currently at, since it may well change again (as this game is prone to doing !) and it's fun to see the evolution of iterations through the years.
I was only 13 when I began this project, and am now 23. A lot has changed, but not the ambition to create amazing games. I hope I have more to share soon... but you know how it goes.
