Hey, everyone! Been a while, huh?
.......at this point im just intentionally committing to starting off every stp devlog like that. idk, i think it's kinda funny.
Sooooo, Saving the Person......haha, what a game.....it, uh....it really HAS been a while though, hasn't it? Like......14 months worth of while? Haha....riiight......well, I gave FNAN:R its long long LONG overdue update, it's only fair I give STP the same treatment. So, what's been going on?
Well, I'm glad you asked! I animated a couple scenes.........uhh..........
...............yeeeeeeeeeeeeeah..........
Alright let's get down to brass tax: Motivation for developing this has been a bitch. Now that I'm starting to get into the more animation heavy scenes, and now that my Henry Stickmin funk's kinda deteriorating, it's been hard to find the desire to work on this game, especially with FNAN:R and Uni always lingering in the background. I don't think Attacking the Tower's trailer releasing and making me realise how much better it's gonna be than this game helped much. (Speaking of, though, dude, Attacking the Tower?! That looks dope, it replicates the Henry style so well! Really looking forward to it!)
There's been several times over the past year where I've contemplated cancellation. Heck, even just a couple days ago, I was heavily considering it. But, I dunno, I guess there's still a small spark in me. One that's proud of what I've made so far, and wanting to see it all come together. I recall shortly after the start of the year, I asked one of my friends to playtest the game thus far and see what they thought. And they really liked it! I think just that alone is enough to get me to think this is something worth sticking with. It may not be the best, and looking back now there's multiple changes I'd make to the overall story, but I'm in it for the long haul now. Either I complete what's storyboarded now, or cancel the game. No two ways about it.
So, that's where I'm at now. Consider this update more of an in-the-moment, "god i gotta write something about this" kinda update. I have been back in the mood as of the past couple days, getting back into work now that Uni is done for the next few months. Right now, I'm feeling good. I think we all know how suddenly that can change, but I'm gonna try and ride this wave for as long as I can. Wish me luck, fellas.
-OH, wait, actually, one more thing, post-Devlog-Release Sonnakai here, just remembered I should probably talk about the release of this game, since y'know, Flash is dead and all that. Yeah, it's not coming out on GameJolt. For now, I'm relying on Newgrounds with its aptly titled Newgrounds Player for the game to function. Maybe once this game is done by the heat death of the universe, Ruffle will fully support AS3, but until then, NG Player worked just fine for the playtester, so that's the path going forward. Consider this page more of a development update-type page. Okay, NOW wish me luck, fellas.
In the meantime, here's one more s p e c i a l look at the video game! I've actually removed an extremely important object from the scene here, but what is it? youll just have to find oooooooooout
