If you cancel your game because you don't have the time to finish it that's just kinda dumb. You'll have time at some point to finish the game, could be months or even years but at one point or another you'll find the time to finish it. Try putting you game on pause instead, this way you also won't be killing hype and traction to your game and subsequently your GJ profile as well. Cancelling your game due to a lack of time would also imply you don't have time to make other stuff too, unless you're working on other projects which makes even less sense if you were to cancel the game.
Personally, I have only ever cancelled 2 games. A game called anomaly which long time yoink fans should recognize, and another called calypso which I teased once and never talked about again in a discord like 3-4 years ago. The reason I cancelled anomaly was because I wasn't jiving with the way it was turning out and I ended up not liking the concept halfway through and I couldn't even think of what the gameplay for calypso was going to be. Neither of the reasons for cancellation was as a result of a lack of time OR too many projects. at the time for both of these games I was juggling a game jam, a new ONIBK game, and a new lobo clan game.
FNitUS is an example of putting a game on pause. I debated cancelling it a few times since I got rid of discord and no longer had a means of keeping track of progress, however, I know with 100% certainty that one day likely YEARS in the future I'm gonna sit down and continue to recruit devs and actually work on getting that game finished.
So in conclusion class, just because you don't have time now doesn't mean you won't forever, so don't cancel your game.
