A "small" project: Translating DELTARUNE to Spanish.(Article)

I am aware of the recent radio silence from me. I have not had the time to do much, and so, I recently started a, well, "small" project of mine I had been thinking about for some time, which is, as the title already said, a translation of DT to Spanish. Now, onto some pre-cooked questions about this (there aren't much though, so if you want to ask your own, ask away!):

What is the current progress on the translation?

As of August 21st, the entirety of Chapter 1 has been translated, and Chapter 2 is already in the works. Since Chapter 2 has a significantly bigger amount of text, it will take longer than 1, which already took about 3 weeks.

Is this going to be a mod?

I have two answers: the short one is "probably not". The long one is: eh, jury's still out on that one. I have not yet found any modders, and I cannot do it myself (addendum: believe me when I say I have tried to. Even when overwriting over someone else's translation mod, all I managed to do is utterly destroy Chapter 1 and the Chapter Select Menu in that order, so it is official that I have absolutely no idea of what I am doing), so unless I find someone willing and able to do so, things will remain as merely a .txt.

How are you handling things such as Kris' pronouns, non-binary characters, etc? (This answer is going to be very, very long, so brace thyselves.)

I try my best. I truly do, and it is not easy. Due to the fact that Spanish is a Romance Language, it works differently than English. In Spanish, por example, there are words that have several terminations for male or female subjects (example: actor (m), actriz (f)), whilst other have a singular termination regardless of how the subject identifies as (example: amable). You can also avoid the usage of pronouns altogether, since in Spanish, you can elude the subject of the phrase with quite ease, so that helps a lot. The plural form of the masculine termination helps to refer to all subjects, regardless of their gender, though if all the subjects are female, the femenine termination is utilised instead. So when it comes to the usage of words as "Lightners" (Luminosos) or "Heroes" (Héroes), this plural can refer to both Susie and Kris, since there is at least one non-female subject (I know it sounds complex, and that is because it is). Of course, when we are only talking about Kris, I retort to using sinonyms of the adjectives. Synonyms that only have one termination, like I said before. I can also retort to the characters saying something that is not exactly the same in a word-by-word basis, but has the same meaning, or a similar one. (Summing up: it is very difficult to do this, but thanks to some resources Spanish provides me, I can get around without ever inferring Kris' gender. At least, that is the intention over here. I'll probably make mistakes, since I am doing this alone.)

Are you going to translate things such as Lightners or Darkners, the sprites, etc?

It depends on which terms, but as a general rule of thumb, I will translate terms to Spanish, and so we have "Luminosos" y "Oscuros", "El Rugido", etc, but other terms have stayed the same, such as "DELTA RUNE", "SAVE POINT", maybe SAVE, I am not sure. And as an absolute rule, I will not translate the spritework.

Will you continue upon the release of new Chapters?

Probably not, since that would be too much work, and when those Chapters release I will already be in University, so I will have little to no free time.

But why Spanish?

...it is my first language. I am not sure if more needs to be said.

I have most certainly not chosen every possible question, of course. I probably skipped over some so, as I have said before, if you have any questions to ask me about this, please feel free to do so. Of course, I am going to ask for politeness and to not start overtly aggresive arguments. I feel like, if we have different ways of seeing this, we can be civilised about it (of course, I cannot please everyone. That is a constant. There is always going to be someone who either dislikes me or my approach, but I can do my best to make this project at the very best of my capacities).

So...

It appears we're early, huh...

...

...wait.

...Early?

Early to what...?

Ok so, has anyone ever thought about what it'd be like to fight UT bosses in the style of DT? My future project tries to achieve just that. Although it won't have in-battle dialogue, I hope it becomes something acceptable. (the sprites are of Askywalker).

Has anyone seen this? Before anything, I'd just like to say Toby has already called out people for impersonating him, so doing this would be a bit hypocritical. https://fwugradiation.tumblr.com/post/697982043876950016/seems-l…

Happy #WIPWednesday!

Are you working on a game? A song? Something else? Tell us in the comments!

(For anyone who might want them, here are the sprites of the Vessel from my last game. [Fair warning! The base sprites for this were those of aamakuruu, y'know, the edgy Kris? All I did was to resprite them, since I'm terrible at drawing]).

Quick question: Why do I have these images in my game files?

I got there to see if I could hack the game to restore the first-time menus (if anyone knows, please do tell me) and I found them. I don't even know how they got there or what they're for.

So, I don't know if anyone else saw this, but in Toby's Spotify, BIG SHOT's lyrics appear. And I don't know what the [Fifty Percent Off] that means for us...
