About the continuation of Project Atral and Updates.


So i'm finally healthy enough to continue development, but not at the usual pace. I'm still staying low to recover from my surgery, but i'm now making smaller adjustments here and there. Here's a list of what i've done recently.

Textures:

  1. Finished the new baroque stables textures.

  2. Reworked the marble textures and figured out how to properly import and use normal map textures with Substance Painter. The horse statue, door and window arches of the stable are affected. The small horse head busts and the statue socket are being corrected later.

Foliages:

  1. A few clipping foliages have been relocated.

Animations:

  1. Mikhals "Float Fast" animation has finally been fixed. It took me hours to find a proper tutorial and fix it.

Subtitles:

  1. All subtitles that have been stuck on the screen, are now "unstuck" and should never get stuck again.

  2. At the same time i've fixed the location texts, that also got stuck sometimes. These are just showing you the name of the location you have accessed for a few seconds on the screen. Mostly for better orientation on the island.

Weather System:

  1. Rain Controller with Cascade is working fine. Niagara is not working properly. Trying to find a way with Niagara and rain collisions, so that the rain does not go through roofs.

Quests:

  1. At the moment i'm trying to learn the basics of how to spawn actors by class. I'm doing it by trying to make a very basic quest.

Voicelines:

  1. Reworked a few voicelines of Mikhal.

Environment:

  1. Delsirions Statue now has a memorial plate.

  2. Added different assets to Dan's Dot, including a window for the hut, furniture, and outhouse, some fish and more.

NEXT UP:

Preparations for an ambient occlusion setting (if possible) and language settings for later localization (if necessary). Doors and other stuff for the boxes. Learning simple physics with a ball you can push around (with Mikhal and the horses). Overhaul of the highland vegetation. New task bar icon for the project.

Next up

I have worked a lot on the cleanup of the horse model. It's now ready for UV mapping and then texturing.

The unsolvable problem in the settings menu caused me to rework it. It's now only accessible by the pause menu. The settings menu got only slightly reworked. The "back" button is bigger and i had to put in a background.

Part 2!

New contents:

- Floor texture for the insides of the cottages

- Game banner when starting up the project

I've worked on the criollo definitivo model. It will be the base for the ingame horses. I have to refine it a bit, then i can reduce the polygon count and texture it.

I've made a horse statue: "founding stallion" of Stud Durendare. I'm not sure yet if i'll keep the penis or not. I was just trolling a bit there. But if you like it, tell me.

It was a sh!t ton of work to do that, but the settings menu and the main menu are now mostly working! In the main menu only "new game" and "quit" work so far. The closing of the settings menu is still buggy. Working on fixing it!

The cottages are now done and have been placed into their final positions. What's left to do is fill them up with furniture and make custom collisions.

New contents:

- Stairs to the cottages

- Wooden pillars for the cottages

- Door numbers

- Mini Map frame has a higher resolution now

Fixed problems:

- Newly placed trees are no longer standing rotated. Thanks to @KingCobra1998 for the help!

Placed a lot more trees and bushes. Placed the tiny hermit hut on Dan's Dot. Worked on the vegetation performance. Next up: texture performance (decreasing resolution, decal ivy instead of texture ivy on the stables and riding hall).
