Hello and welcome to the 6th devlog of Vivaio!
Vivaio is starting to get huge. We’ve decided to name the updates, so instead of doing random updates with improvements here and there, we’re now on themed updates. So… Welcome to the Environment Update!
Let’s start with the important stuff.
An awesome musician has joined the team: Suarez! Which means that now Vivaio has music. Yay!
Another important announcement is that we’ve created a Discord Channel. We needed a way to communicate with Suarez, but this is an opportunity to get real-time feedback from anyone interested in contributing to Vivaio! And, now, the lists. Here is what we have been working on for Alpha 7:
New features
Added music! Songs will be played depending on the time of the day.
Added Management menu: pay your debt and… expand your farm! As much as you want!
Added a river.
Added water pumps: can be placed on the river. Uses 1 of energy for every 20 water units.
Added drip irrigation kit. Only works if a water pump is built on the farm. Cooler than drip bottles!
Added signs. Choose an icon to show on the signs (you can add your own icons too!!! On GameFolder/Vivaio_Data/Data/Icons, make sure they’re .png and 64x64!).
Added new types of tiles: bricks, composite, wood and concrete.
Added fences and gates.
Added rotation using R key. It will change the sprite of: composite floor, wood floor, fence and fence gate. We will be adding rotations to more objects on the upcoming versions!
Added a lamp for the house. Right click to turn on/off.
Added a button to go back to the main menu on the Options menu.
Improvements
New car sprites (+ animations)!
Time system rework and optimization. Clock now is correctly synced with the current time while sleeping (it is smoother too!). Added transitions and more environment colors for different times of the day (morning, 9AM, evening and night). Reduced a bunch of errors due to desyncs.
Customers pathfinding has been improved to make them be able to buy from stands or use the cash register from any place near the objects, removing the limitation of just buying/paying from the south position of the object.
Character movement rework. Running now makes the walking animation faster. Not important for the gameplay, but… Reduced player movement script from 416 to 62 lines of code. Phew.
Keyboard input system improved.
Using left click while holding control will trigger any action on the buildable objects (stand, product box, deseeding machine, flour machine…) related to adding stuff. For example: left + control click on stands will add the product on the basket, if available.
Using right click while holding control works as the left click with control, but for taking stuff.
With a letter on hand, pressing O will open/close it.
Customers now have different routes.
Changes
Changed bed sleep detector collider and bed obstacle size.
Reduced drip bottle size.
Bugfixing
Fixed coin animation not appearing when a customer buys.
Fixed loading game with harvested crops error.
Fixed dried crops when loading game unable to be removed.
Fixed wrong sprite order when having other objects placed near the bed.
Fixed furnace error when finishing baking bread while displaying the furnace UI.
Fixed delivery boxes not appearing after loading a game.
