So, I know a couple of ago I said the movie was in my opinion just okay, mid, mediocre, but I want to really elaborate on my feelings for the movie.
Let me just say this, I didn't walk into the movie THINKING it was going to be a cinematic masterpiece, not at all. My expectations were either it was gonna be a good-bad, a movie so bad it's good, or just good, a fun thriller. Did I get that? Well, kind of.
There were a lot of things I did like about it. I REALLY liked the Ella doll reference from The Silver Eyes and ECSPICALLY Sparky, a dog animatronic someone claimed to have seen in FNaF 1 all of those years ago. Outside of that, I really liked the cast. They did their part and didn't have an issue with it. But the real star of the show was Matthew Lillard as Springtrap, HOLY SHIT, he was fucking awesome. He really sold the psychotic murderer bit he played!
Additionally, I liked the animatronics' designs too. I knew 100% they wouldn't fuck their designs up. The only tiny nitpick of the animatronics was how big their waist was. That was obviously done to not cramp the performers in the suits, so I can completely understand that.
I did like the end scenes and that one scene with the robbers too. It was cool seeing the animatronics fuck up the robbers because, through most of the movie, they didn't do remotely anything to Mike, or at least from what I can remember. The end scene, which I know a LOT of people didn't like, and rightfully so. I'll talk about more in-depth later in the article, but most people didn't like the springlock scene or really just how the scene even came about, me though? I loved it.
Listen, guys, you CAN'T make the springlock THAT gory, okay? It's a PG-13 movie, you gotta have limits. Would it have been cool? Hell yeah, I wanna blood and guts and all that, but I'm happy with what we got. I will say though, I wish they showed more springlocks actually going into William, they showed like 2, I wanna see him get fucked up everywhere, arms, head, legs, everywhere, not just a sound effect. But, not bad either way.
Another scene I wanna talk about is the infamous pillow fort scene. Chill, alright, it's cute, I liked it. Is it weird? Yes. Does it make ANY sense? No. Did I say what the fuck a couple of times during the scene? Yes. But I liked it either way. You guys have to remember, that these are just kids in suits, they are still kids at heart. That's why they respond nicely to Abby, and why they trust people so easily, kids do that all the time.
And the most important thing I liked, was the intro. The intro is beautiful, the singing, the song, the 8-bit minigame in the back, it was great! I was talking with my friend, and he said that it would've been cooler if the first scene was William KILLING the kids, it shows who the main villain is, and it already intrigues you with mystery. And you know what? He's right, that would've been cooler, but I still like it anyway!
I liked the dream sequences too. They were pretty cool nothing much to say... EXCEPT FOR A THEORY. I think Mike Shmidt has something to do Henry Emily. The son? Maybe. I mean, Henry's son in the books DID get kidnapped by William Afton sooooooooooo it could be the case!
Now to the bad stuff I don't like. First of all, the jumpscares. The movie isn't scary, at all. The jumpscares didn't get me, but it's a jumpscare, not a traumatic scare where you're going to have nightmares about it. But, FNaF isn't known for being the scariest games alive or anything, so, can't really complain.
Also, the cupcake. The cupcake is a FUCKING DEMON in this film. Bro took out more victims than ANY of the animatronics ever did. That thing put on /gamemode creative at LEAST like 3 times. I just didn't like how much of a threat he was, why couldn't it have been like Freddy? Or Bonnie? WHY THE CUPCAKE. Not to mention, HE DID WORK TO SPRINGTRAP, HOW????
I also didn't like how early it was for the animatronics to be best friends with Mike and them, I wanted to see them in all of their terror first! I also didn't like how late Springtrap became a threat. He came out in like the last 15 minutes of the movie, ONLY 15. And the twist was bad, we all knew the counselor guy was William, so there was no surprise, the same thing actually goes for Vanessa too, her twist was so obvious from the start. A police guard coming to Freddy's for no reason, really? Yeah, no shot.
I also didn't care for the cameos, I just didn't. They were cool, but it's like eh, Hi? That's it? Alright, bye. Like, that's all it feels like.
And that's about it. This movie is like a solid 7.5/10. It was just pretty okay. Didn't love it, didn't hate it.
