An early idea for PA2020, when it was much smaller, was for the map to be slightly tree-shaped. This wasn't very efficient for Clickteam.
Here are some super early mockups I made at the time. The rectangular one is quite close to the final version!

I've always thought that Smiling Friends had an extremely similar style and sense of humour to the One Night at Flumpty's games.
So, I felt particularly vindicated when the literal Redman appeared in yesterday's episode of the show.
