Game
Wanting Shock™ (Game Jolt Version)

An old post from my itch.io. Here, I'm talking about the releases for my game. I edited it to make a little more sense.

From my Itch.io:

I do wanna make a quick discussion about the releases for this game.

I do plan for this game to be on PC, and Mobile devices. I thought about putting it on console too, but I know that's gonna be difficult and expensive asf. However, I do plan for some of my future games to be on console.

Wanting Shock will release on PC (Windows, Mac, and Linux) first because that's where I mostly test it on, including the compatibility for gamepads. For mobile, it'll take some time for me to fix the UI and other things, but I'll make sure it works fine on most phones. I don't know about tablets, but it shouldn't be a hassle...

I don't think Wanting Shock can be released for iOS because I'll have to pay $99yr for something- idk, I forgot, but it will definitely be released for Android and Google Play Store, because it's easier and supports APK files.

Now for the platforms, I'm already set on 4: Itch.io, Game Jolt, Google Play, and Steam. The reason there is no game page on Google Play and Steam, is because my mom has to help me set those up.

Each platform would mean I have to change the mechanics of the game to adapt to each one. For itch.io, I don't have to worry about it. I can just make the game as I please. For Game Jolt, I'll have to add their API to my game in order for the trophies, and scoreboards to work. I'm just hoping it's not a pain in my @$.

Now, for Google Play and Steam, I don't know how those would work out for me, since again, I'll have to have my mom help me set it up. I could do some research on what I'm going to get into, and then reconsider my options, but I'm dead set on releasing my game on those 4 platforms (maybe more if I could).

The title for Wanting Shock™ will be different. I'm not good at explaining things so I'll just give you an example:

  • Itch.io: Wanting Shock™

  • Game Jolt: Wanting Shock™ Game Jolt Version

  • Google Play: Wanting Shock™ Google Play Version

  • Steam: Wanting Shock™ Steam Version

  • Nintendo Switch (if possible): Wanting Shock™ Nintendo Switch Version

I'm putting my game on multiple platforms as a can so more people can have the opportunity to play, no matter what device or platform their playing on. This is something I'd recommend if anyone is a solo developer trying to get their game out there. It's ok if you can't put your game on every platform, just pick which one you think is best and most importantly, easier.
