ANIMATRONIC DATA REPAIR'S DEMO IS OUT NOW!

Thank you all so much for following along with the game's development!

Here's an article about how this game came to be!

Make sure you read the system requirements before downloading!

The idea of this game started 5 years ago. I started development on my very first game titled "Freddy Fazbear's Recruitment: Animatronic Data Repair." @Pooichii

The premise was pretty simple:

"Freddy Fazbear's Recruitment: Animatronic Data Repair" takes place at Freddy Fazbear's Pizzeria! You work the maintenance shift after the place has closed. Making sure that all of the animatronics are working nice and smoothly before the nightguard arrives for his shift. Your job is divided into two parts, the first part needs you to watch over an animatronic testing it to make sure it doesn’t move. You will be in the backstage corner watching it while having to watch an endoskeleton on a small security panel. Once you’re finished with analyzing it, you move onto the second part of your night, which takes place in a small security office. All you have to defend yourself from two animatronics is a flashlight, and your eyes. Close your eyes or use your flashlight if you see someone who shouldn’t be in their right spot. You will be given a special “Fazbear’s Entertainment Security Panel” to watch over the security cameras and to see your tasks for the night. The new and improved security panel has the ability to switch the map view from “Revamped” to “Original” and the one of a kind “Charge Power” button! Only use it when it’s absolutely necessary though! Finish your tasks and you can go home! Fazbear Entertainment is not responsible to injury, death, or missing person(s)."

The game was split into two parts. Part 1 had you starting your shift in the Parts and Service room. Your task was to watch over an animatronic who was reported to "malfunction" during the day. If the animatronic were to act up, you'd use your flashlight to get them away from you. Pretty simple, right?

However, there was another threat lurking in the shadows. A prototype that would get up and try to attack you. All you had to do was administer a controlled shock to reset it. After surviving for a couple of minutes, you'd move on to part 2.

Part 2 had you in the pizzeria's office, completing a small number of tasks on the control panel/camera panel. Freddy, Chica and Foxy were the only animatronics that would try to attack you during this part.

If Chica was in the hallway in front of you. Closing your eyes would make her go away. Flashing Foxy with your flashlight would make him go away, just like in FNaF 2. Freddy would only attack you if you failed to complete your tasks before the timer ran out, causing him to jumpscare you.

The game's demo was released on Saturday, August 1st, 2020. And the game was buggy as hell.

Starting with an issue where the game's audio would cut out if you pressed "Ctrl+S" at the same time, which I ended up fixing later. But there were so many other game breaking bugs that I didn't know how to fix because I didn't know how to code the game properly.

The old game was built off of using YouTube tutorials and guides online. After the release, I saw a couple of gameplay videos of the game which gave me a lot of very deserved criticism. Thankfully, constructive criticism! One of my favorites being from FusionZGamer, who actually complimented the graphics of the game's first part (the lighting to be specific)!

After a couple of weeks since release and having almost no way of knowledge of how to fix all of the bugs, I dropped the game. My last post from the Pooichii account was 3 years ago.

Which I ended up losing. I literally cannot login to the account anymore haha. If I could then everything including this new game would've been over there. I mean, imagine how iconic of a rebranding that would've been!!!

Behind the scenes however, there was still some development! A couple of environments were made in Blender, but no coding was done yet since I wanted to actually learn how to use Clickteam before I made the full game.

I didn't get far into the game's development though and I (unofficially) cancelled it. I was going into high school and had too much on my plate to worry about some silly little FNaF fan-game that was only made for fun.

I still really wanted to create a FNaF fan-game. One that I knew I would be proud of. I thought about creating a successful, fully fledged game, with great graphics, voice acting, and well-animated jumpscares that would stick to the player for days. I was in my 6th period class when I designed the first office in Paint.net. (please don't click that link)

I went home and re-downloaded Blender on my computer that day and for the next couple of months I created different offices for an unnamed FNaF fan-game.

This was the very first office design.

Created in late 2020.

I didn't touch Clickteam for another 3 years though, and throughout those 3 years, I was slowly creating different designs of the office above every now and then, slowly getting better at modeling in Blender.

Updated in early 2021. Scrapped because of school.

This was the final design of the office.

By the time the final office design was made, I started thinking of ideas of a unique name for this unnamed game. Until I decided on naming it "Animatronic Data Repair," a little homage to the unfinished game.

I always knew that the old game had potential, so much potential. The premise and thought behind it was just too good to get rid of. But this time I wanted to make a serious game, with the motive of actually completing it. Which meant I had to write a story.

Let me just say that the demo's story and the full-game's story are connected! There is a reason why you're experiencing everything you're seeing in the game.

Now..I don't know if this is how you're supposed to write stories for games..but the game's complete story so far is more than 9 pages long. And I'm not even on the first night yet. But I wanted to make the story for this game serious, dark, and unique! And why not delve into the darker side of Five Nights at Freddy's!

I do hope to update you all on how the story's progress is going! But I'm gonna pause it for now!

One thing I really wanted to do was make everything, and I mean EVERYTHING myself. No help from anyone else at all, just me. And I think I succeeded with that! The animatronic models, the environments, the music, the animations and jumpscares, and even the teaser trailer, all by me.

The only thing that I had help on was some of the office's ambience, the sound effects, the music used in the teaser trailer, and the jumpscare sound.

Credit all goes to the respective creators on Freesound and AliceMako!

During those 3 years, I took the time to learn about coding in Clickteam and how the software works. I wouldn't say that I know everything about it now, but I definitely know way more than I did 5 years ago. And I know that I'll get better at it in the future.

But looking at these images you can really see the improvements I made when working in Blender. And I can't wait to do it all over again for the full game. Yes, everything will be remodeled in the full game.

I'm so happy that I was able to recreate this project that just started out at a silly little scary fan-game with "roblox graphics" to a game that immerses you into a world where you hope that there isn't something that's lurking in the shadows.

And as I am now a senior in high school, about to graduate in May. There's no way I'm gonna scrap this project. And if I do, someone PLEASE slap some sense into me and administer a controlled shock to motivate me.

And for the last time, thank you all SO SO much for following along with this game's development. I can't wait to update you more in the future as we transition from the demo to the fully fledged story and game of Animatronic Data Repair.

I love you all so much! Thanks for supporting me and my game!

I want to personally thank @IkkosamaUA for helping me with some of the code for this game! Trust me when I say this, I literally would've never finished this if it weren't for you, thank you so much for the helpful tips!
