My rating: 9/10

Pros:

• The show gets way darker. Season 1 already had some dark moments, but Season 2 really leans into the psychological side of Barry and how messed up his life actually is.

• Barry as a character gets way more interesting. You start to see that he can’t just escape his past, and sometimes he’s honestly the scariest person in the room.

• The acting class storyline becomes way more important. It’s not just comedy anymore, it actually ties directly into Barry’s emotions and guilt.

• The tension is way higher. A lot of episodes feel like everything is about to fall apart for Barry at any second.

• Some episodes are genuinely incredible. There are a couple episodes that feel super creative and intense compared to a normal TV show.

• The side characters get more depth. Characters like NoHo Hank and Gene Cousineau feel more important to the story instead of just being funny side characters.

Cons:

• Barry becomes harder to root for. As the season goes on, some of his choices make him feel less sympathetic and more dangerous.

• Some storylines feel a little rushed. Certain character arcs move pretty quickly because the season is still pretty short.

• The tone is much heavier. The comedy is still there, but it’s definitely darker than Season 1, which might not work for everyone.

• Some plot points feel unresolved by the end. It leaves a lot hanging going into the next season.

Short version:

I’d give Season 2 a 9/10. It takes everything from Season 1 and makes it darker and more intense. Barry as a character becomes way more complex, and the tension is way higher throughout the season. Some episodes are honestly incredible. The only downside is that Barry starts becoming harder to root for, and a few storylines feel a little rushed because the season is short. But overall it’s a really strong season.
