Hey everyone! I am here to give the FIRST official update about my tutorial series on Making a FNaF Fangame in Clickteam!
This post will go over how far I am with this remake series, and what you can expect from this remake series!
But before I get into that, for those who do not fully know what this project is or for those who are JUST learning about this project now, read below, but if you already know the whole history of this series and whatnot, keep reading past this point
What is this?
For those who do not know, around 2, close to 3 years ago, I made a series on YouTube titled "How to Make a FNaF Fangame in Clickteam Fusion 2.5"
This series would garner a lot of developers and attention, which was fantastic! As a lot of people have stated that I really helped them out, which proves that I did very well with making the tutorials!
After a couple of months, I decided to make the SIDE tutorial series to delve into more obscure parts of FNaF and show the audience how to do different types of mechanics apart from the main core series, such as a Foxy A.I., or adding in a Usage Bar to the gameplay.
So with how helpful this series was to the audience of young developers, I thought I had finished, and I thought that my work was done; however, the original series had MANY MANY MANY flaws to it, and I figured out new ways and new methods to simplify my coding strategy and make it easier for new developers over the past year or so, which is what led me to make a brand NEW series called:
Making a FNaF Fangame in Clickteam (Fusion 2.5)
This series is built to renovate the old series and teach newer developers more REFINED, SIMPLISTIC, and STRAIGHTFORWARD ways to make YOUR OWN Five Nights at Freddy's fangame! And who doesn't love a good remaster of an already "perfect" masterpiece? (at least to some people)
Progress:
This series has been on and off periodically, as I like to work on the series when I'm mostly full of energy and I can think straight.
However, over the course of the past months, I feel confident to finally have a main source of information apart from YouTube, as I've been making good progress on this series as of late. I always try my absolute hardest to make a very solid tutorial, one that outrivals the original not just in quality, but in the way I teach it as well.
My goal was originally to try to remake the series while explaining certain processes better WHILE being able to cut down the time, however, this is something that simply cannot always be done, and as of right now, most of the videos I have made with this series are longer than the original tutorials, some (such as the Menu and Camera System) are over an HOUR long (but barely).
I realized that the ways in which I teach things is rather long, and that's because I want to make sure that newer developers fully grasp the concept of what I am talking about with whatever we are learning in that specific tutorial, sometimes even including multiple ways to fix a problem with multiple solutions.
At first it was a let down on myself as no matter how hard I tried, I just cannot always make the tutorials shorter, as if I try to do that, I may end up confusing the audience or even completely forgetting to explain a certain part in that tutorial, and I really would not like to risk that whatsoever, so if it manages to be longer than it's original counterpart, it's not bad whatsoever, as you are learning everything you need to!
Apart from how different my teaching methods are or how long each individual tutorial is, the entire series ITSELF is completely different in its layout!
This was a small change in the grand scheme of things, but a much needed updated to keep the series flowing nicely! Here is the official remake series order!
Part 1: Menu & Introduction to Clickteam
Part 2: Newspaper, Loading Screens, & Frame Transitions
Part 3: Office Scrolling
Part 4: Light Buttons and Atmospheric Lighting
Part 5: Doors
Part 6: Camera System
Part 7: Basic Animatronic A.I.
Part 8: Jumpscares & Game Over Screen
Part 9: Power & Power Out Segment
Part 10: Time & 6 A.M. Screen
Part 11: Sound
Part 12: Multiple Nights & INI Saving
Part 13: Extra's Menu
Part 14: Custom Night
Part 15: Final Adjustments & Releasing YOUR game!
Most of the parts are COMPLETELY finished and I am very happy with how a lot of them turned out!
We are well beyond the halfway mark, however, there is still work to be done for sure.
I have become busier since school started, and having to juggle around my day-to-day life while trying to balance a game in the making plus this series has proved to be a little challenge, but nothing that will stop this series from releasing!
With that being said, that is pretty much the update. Lots of progress done, lots more to BE done!
Before I go, there are some final notes I do want to say
Closing Statements:
This series has been in progress for a while, but I am sure lots of people are wondering when this series will be released.
You know me, I have not been fantastic with deadlines, but, I can confidently say that this series SHOULD be completed by Christmas. This is a SHOULD, not a guarantee, but seeing how much I've done within these last months, I feel that the goal of Christmas release is very possible.
BUT, this ONLY goes for the parts listed above. I do not plan to go back and make the side tutorials, at least as of right now. The side tutorial series remake COULD happen, but that is not on my mind as of right now.
I plan to release this series and finish my NEWEST FNaF fangame, The Return to Freddy's: The Emerald Butterfly, and take a much needed break from the internet and game development. I'm not burned out or anything, buuuuttt as some point you just need to step back and just focus on getting bread, gains, and the love of the world around you without the interception of game development. Plus, I actually need to focus on getting into my dream college and figuring out how I can angle my future to get what I want. This break will most likely be temporary; I do love making video games after all, but hey, you never know.
I'm very thankful for all of the kind messages and for all of you coming to me for support and help, it does not go unnoticed, and I am very happy and proud of all of you! Here's to a great series, a great game, and a wonderful future for all of you and me! I hope to see you all soon!
Kameron.
