Devlog 3: First completed boss design!

Tonight I have the pleasure of introducing you to our first key character in Regal Purple's story.

Meet Vedia, a plantoid painter living in Home and the first boss fight of the game!

Vedia is a passionate artist with a rather hyperactive demeanour. She's easily distracted, except when doing something she enjoys, such as painting or talking about what she imagines the landscapes of the surface to look like. She's also quite resourceful, making different paints out of all sorts of materials, including her own sap. Vedia's dream is to finally go to the surface and see all of the views it has to offer, before painting them for all to enjoy.

She first meets Alite not too long after they enter Home after [REDACTED], and quickly drags them around the area to show them all of their art. Vedia soon realises, however, that Alite is a human, and when they try to leave, she tries to take their SOUL to help break the barrier. What happens next, of course, is up to you.

Vedia's design credit goes to me (Zeta/TBJ), Creo, and Luna, especially Creo and Luna. I wouldn't have been able to get her design out of my head without these two.

Now you're all probably curious about progress on the demo. Well, I have good news and bad news. The good news is that Vedia here is going to be the subject of Regal Purple's combat demo, and as such she will be one of the first characters to be fully fleshed out. The bad news is that I haven't made any progress code-wise as I've been distracted by life events and my ever-persistent (or should I say ever-Perseverant) mental health issues. So, sorry about that.

Anyway, I hope you enjoyed reading this devlog, and I hope you like Vedia. I'm excited to get some coding done for the demo once my head starts cooperating. Cya in the next devlog!

I have added rewards for quests so that villagers can give you something in return for your hard work helping them. 🥳

I want to know - what's your favourite quest reward?

Quantum precognition is one of the most powerful cards. End game cards & equipment. Demo/alpha build boss is no match for this deck.

Updated the chest in the maze, adding sound, particles and better animation. But what's in the chest?

Just a Pico sprite

Back in my art school days I used to ride the 710 COPSA line from Parque Del Plata to Montevideo almost everyday. This is the Marcopolo Viaggio G4 Mercedes Benz model from the late 80s, one of the older bus models that was running on the line.
