It’s been awhile, right? Don’t threat though! Percy and his friends have been VERY busy behind the scenes, but what’s exactly been happening? Let’s talk about it!
MORE AND MORE FIXES
We’ve been slowly chipping away at touching up a lot of the inner workings of the entire game. You may not notice it, but a lot of the game was recently touched up with the help of @steals and @danoodle ! You may notice some of these changes with the new screenshots I’ve posted, such as some new UI (with a custom made font!), and some drastic changes, like the first Post-Night Task; Auction Automation!
A lot of the game has changed for the better with these changes. I was originally reluctant on pursuing changing the game internally, but I don’t regret it now, as these changes were for the better!
WHAT’S NEW, THOUGH?
Fortunately, we can’t exactly elaborate what we’ve been working on, as most of the stuff is secret! However, here’s the stuff we’re currently working on that we CAN share:
I’ve been working away at the boss of the game. We’re trying to aim to make it a fair, fun, and visually unique boss. We’re also taking notes on what not to do for the boss. With some additional help from @steals code wise, the first draft of a playable boss is almost ready, very exciting, right? This section of the game has been very difficult to get right, both visually and gameplay wise, but I personally believe we got a good rhythm for it going. We'll just have to see what everyone thinks of it!
Like I said earlier, we’ve also been going at recoding a lot of the sections within the game, the biggest contender being we’ve re-concepted Auction Automation, the first Post-Night Task in the game. While a lot of the sections got polished and balanced out, this one in particular we took extra time on because we felt the pace of it was slow, and could be drastically improved if done right. We think this new one is way better, and we hope you enjoy the tasks regardless! There's a cool twist to all of them we think you’ll like.
Other than that, we’ve also been polishing up the cutscenes, UI elements, and the different menus within the game. @danoodle has been chipping away at a brand new menu, and while it might look the same visually, code-wise there are a TON of improvement. The biggest ones being some new Settings, and even readable patch notes! Truly amazing stuff honestly. I’ll try showing it off sometime soon, we’ll have to see!
I want to thank everyone (again) for sticking with us through development, this game so far has taken a year to fully develop (which is still crazy to me!), and I do not regret a second of it. My team has been amazing to work with, and I could not thank them enough for the work and support throughout development.
We’re in the homestretch now, and while progress is a little slow, I believe we can reach that end goal. I’ve updated the page to include some updated screenshots, a jumpscare showcase for Charlie Cat, this new devlog (of course), and, something we're only doing once, 30 seconds of UNCUT gameplay from the game itself! We couldn't include it in this devlog itself though...
...So we're using it as an opportunity to promote the new Playtime with Percy Twitter account! We're mostly using this to show exclusive content surrounding the game, plus some other miscellaneous things! Major announcements are going to be going on that account as opposed to my main twitter, though sometimes it'll vary, we'll see. You can follow the twitter here!
