HEY!
Want the latest on Unsummited? Here you go!
We have decided to split the Demo into 2 parts. Part 1 concerns the very beginning of the game, the first puzzles, a lake with a carnival on the boardwalk, 4 fun puzzles to solve, a few quests to solve, and a host of perhaps up to 8 Unique NPCs to fight! (I might cut down this number, idk), a ton of NPCs to talk to, maybe 4-6 unique weapons to try out, and the first chapter mini/midway-boss to tie it all into a neat little bow.
Why did we decide to do this? Well, first off, as time has gotten on my scope for the first chapter/demo of the game has gotten very very big. Second off, development of this game has taken a massive amount of time because of bouts of being uninspired, plain busy, and other life events. Third off, we could really, really use some help on the game, and the only real way to get any eyes on the game in the first place is to have a playable project. So, all these factors combined, I've determined that splitting the demo up would be best and I'm comfortable with that. After all, my biggest dream is to entertain just one person. Cant really do that without some sort of product, eh?
So, whats the current state of the game? Allow me to tell you.
Every puzzle in part 1 of the demo is there. There may be some kinks here or there with them that need to be solved later with playtesting and coding experiments, but theyre there.
The combat system has been polished even more and had even more features added to it. Im currently in the process of finishing up an advantage system inspired by... earthbound. Yup. THE Earthbound. The one everyone sh*ts on for people being too inspired by, lol.
We're adding the very first overworld "mini-game" in the form of a mudslide with racing mechanics. I'm sure you'll love it. (Thanks to Pete for volunteering to work on it!)
That convenience store I mentioned in the last devlog? Its in the game now! ... In a really rough state. But its there.
Every room except for maybe a couple has been added into the game. Most of them need to be decorated still, though.
Anyway.. if I had to guesstimate... we could be releasing in HAH jk i dont make those thin promises anymore. All I can say in that regard is that a release is on the horizon. Its going to be awhile still, but things like this genuinely take time. Please do remember it is mostly just me, a full time worker, building this game in their spare time after work and on weekends. My other volunteers also can only do this in their spare time, and they have their own projects too and are not that willing to do much work considering how long this development has gone without baring any fruit!
Anyway, enough complaining. Once again, thank you for reading this whoever you are. Your care for this project inspires me.
Here is to Unsummited and its lengthy development, hopefully not for forever and ever.
