Fall 2024 Undertale Green: The Pre-Show Devlog

Hello everyone! Welcome to our second seasonal developer log on GameJolt for Undertale Green: The Pre-Show!

...

Boo! Did we get you? I bet you jumped out of your chair. Hopefully you're all having a having a great Halloween and an even better autumn! Remember to stay safe out there tonight.

Us developers have been making great progress with the game, despite how crazy the start of the fall semester has been at university. Let's take a look at some of that, shall we?

πŸ“Writing

β–ˆβ–ˆβ–ˆβ–ˆβ–ˆβ–ˆβ–ˆβ–ˆβ–ˆβ–’

Around 90% of the game's writing is finished!Β All the writing for the Pre-Show's story is now officially complete. All that's left at this point is some small-scale dialogue, like NPCs and other minor interactions. Small tweaks may be made in the future but overall we're satisfied with the story!

🎢Soundtrack

β–ˆβ–ˆβ–ˆβ–ˆβ–ˆβ–ˆβ–ˆβ–’β–’β–’

Our musical scope has expanded a bit since the summer Devlog. We've made amazing progress in completing tracks since then, but we've also added some tracks to the to-do list. Because of this, we're still about 70% of the way through the OST. We still can't wait to publish it all!

We recently posted a soundtrack preview to our YouTube channel. Check it out here if you missed it!

Wonder when THIS will play... (Just kidding, we know)

🎨Art

β–ˆβ–ˆβ–ˆβ–ˆβ–ˆβ–ˆβ–ˆβ–ˆβ–’β–’

At this point, about 80% of the art is done. We hope. Art still remains a fairly complicated area to judge. It's made fantastic progress, but quite a lot of sprite work goes into these games and it's impossible to quantify how much more we will need. If we had to take a shot in the dark, we'd say it's around 80% there.

πŸ’ΎCoding

β–ˆβ–ˆβ–ˆβ–ˆβ–ˆβ–ˆβ–’β–’β–’β–’

60% of the game's code is ready! Coding has made leaps and bounds since the summer Devlog. We have every major Undertale system implemented into the Pre-Show, except for the save system, which is being actively worked on right now. A lot of the last 40% comes down to coding some late-game cutscenes, which is tedious, but more than doable. Most of the hard work is behind us here!

...Thank the stars!

Psst.

Hey. You.

Yeah, you reading this. Adam.

Bet at least one of you is sweatin' bullets right now.

It's me, Mr. Shifty.

You know, that guy from the progress updates on YouTube?

Yellow? Snappy dresser? Legitimate business owner?

I'm still on the run from last time, but I managed to get ahold of this Devlog before it went out.

Don't worry, I'll come back with some more info soon enough.

For the right price.

Look, it's not much but I managed to get a yearbook photo from one of the main cast of the Pre-Show.

Pretty neat, huh?

Don't say I never did nothin' for you. Next time, bring me some Gs.

A house I've built a while ago. :)

It nicely separates the snowy biome from the grassy one.

It's built with painted Ebonstone.

If you have more of an acquired taste, the restaurants in Niravasi have you covered! Maybe skip the salad bar, though.

...they don`t have names yet tho

Let me introduce you to the new Mech line: Gendai Spec. Those are Mech that specializes in surprise attacks, covered operations, and stealth. They are equipped with melee weapons but one of Gendai's frames supports sniper rifles.
