I'm in Game Jolt for like four years, and we never got Animated Profile Pictures, and as no one decided to make this before (apparently) I decided to make my own safe Userscript with some help of AI and my own brain.

Yes, you can use this on almost every browser and Android, but on Android it might be harder and might not work as it's not tested.

TUTORIAL;

--WINDOWS--

1. Go to https://www.tampermonkey.net

2. Select Get from Store on Tampermonkey (USE BETA IF IT DOESN'T WORK!!!)

3. It shall open a Window or a popup saying something, click Install/Get, If a popup says "Unsafe" or something else, click an option "Ignore" or similar, It shall install, If it doesn't, search "How do I install extensions on (YOUR BROWSER NAME)"

4. (Recommended) Pin your extension for faster access

5. Go to https://greasyfork.org/en/scripts/513905-gamegif and click Install this script

6. A window shall open, click the Install button

7. Go to https://gamejolt.com/@YOUR USERNAME HERE

8. Inspect element in your HD profile picture and follow steps

Right-click the selected part shown in the image and click Edit As HTML

Click Copy only the part that looks like:

"https://m.gjcdn.net/user-avatar/200/5118630-crop71_5_471_405-vb3mwd5c-v4.webp" (Yours will have different numbers but don't worry)

Then, in Tampermonkey, Click it, the menu shall open

Then click Edit, you'll see a lot of code, don't worry you won't need to code, you'll only need to change some things.

Scroll down until you see "const currentProfilePicSrc ="

Select the "https://m.gjcdn.net/user-avatar/200/8034218-crop36_0_615_579-eiseypvx-v4.webp" and paste your own "https://m.gjcdn.net/user-avatar/200/" URL in it, which will overwrite the placeholder one, then press Control + S to save

Or Click Save in File, DON'T USE SAVE TO DISK, IT'S THE WRONG ONE.

And you're almost done, If you refresh page it shall work, If it doesn't show any GIF, you need to put your own GIF

Just go to https://tenor.com or search for a GIF in Google

In Tenor:

1. Search for the GIF

2. Right click or hold tap

Click Copy Image Link

Paste in your browser bar and hit enter/send

Then a small version appears, do it again

Now that you copied the URL, in Tampermonkey, again go to Edit, and scroll down until you see const gifUrl = 'https://c.tenor.com/OhUxPkhdcgAAAAAd/tenor.gif'

Just select the https://c.tenor.com placeholder URL and paste your own, then press Control + S to save or File > Save, now go to your Game Jolt profile page, refresh the page, it shall work

IMPORTANT FIX!!!

If the GIF looks off, weird or doesn't work, use a GIF resizer website or app and change the resolution to 200x200 or 640x640 if 200x200 doesn't work, then go to https://imgbb.com select the edited GIF and hit Upload, wait a little bit, it shall appear like "https://ibb.co/link here" then copy paste it on your URL/Search bar

Click Copy Image Link

And the new address will appear on the window like "https://i.ibb.co/VeryFunnyGIFThatIsFake.gif" just do the same process as previously told, replace the old GIF with that one, and boom!

The process takes less than 5–10 minutes to do if you're experienced at Tech stuff.

--ANDROID TUTORIAL-- (UNFINISHED/MIGHT NOT WORK, NO IOS YET)

1. Click this https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.kiwibrowser.browser&pli=1 it shall open Play Store, Install Kiwi Browser, that browser allows Extensions, after done, Open it

2. Search Tampermonkey, Install it, if it doesn't work, go to Extensions OR Settings > Extensions

3. Pin it if possible, then go to https://greasyfork.org/en/scripts/513905-gamegif and Install the Userscript

4. Search or Obtain a Notepad/Text Editor if you don't have

5. Go to Google, get a GIF you like, don't Download it, instead in the GIF you found, hold tap on it, click Copy Image Link, if there's no Copy Image Link, click Share icon, then click Copy

6. Open Tampermonkey, go to Edit, and replace the GIF with your GIF

7. Go to Game Jolt website, log in, If it doesn't log you in or redirects you to Game Jolt app, hold tap in Game Jolt app, go to Redirects/Set as Default and in "Go to supported URLs" set it to Always ask or In other app

8. Again go to Game Jolt website, go to your profile, hold tap in it, click Copy Image Link or click Share, and copy link, then go to Tampermonkey in Extensions, click Edit and put your original Game Jolt profile picture link in const currentProfilePicSrc =

   Refresh page, if it doesn't work in Mobile, I'm sorry, I don't have any idea how to fix it.

NOTE: I unfortunately cannot make this in the mobile Game Jolt app itself because of limitations, issues, and how complex it is. This entire article and tutorials will be made shorter and easier some day, maybe.

If you want to disable it, just click Tampermonkey, click GameGIF, Refresh page.

THIS IS CLIENT-SIDE/LOCAL, OTHERS CAN'T SEE IT, THERE'S NOTHING WE CAN DO ABOUT IT, AND IF SIZE BUGS SOMETIMES, IT'S MOSTLY GAME JOLT ITSELF'S FAULT FOR HAVING VERY MESSY CODE THAT EVEN AI CAN'T HELP, I HAD TO FIX SOME THINGS MYSELF.
