My game dev tip of the week is;
Always know how to use your engine. If you are’nt using an engine, and just custom building it, then you are a pro. I’d never be able to do that for the life of me. Anyway, yes, always know how to use your engine. I once started looking for gmae engines and creators, and all of them didn’t have anything I understood. Take for instance, Stencyl. I took two tutorials on Stencyl, saw it was pretty good, and failed miserably trying to make my own game. Why? I didn’t understand anythign other than what the tutorial told me. So here’s another bit of advice; Don’t use a tutorial on an engine, and if you can use it well, then that’s a good engine for you.
Game of the Week:
This one was pretty hard, but I have decided to pick…. *pause for effect
Codelink V2. If you ever wanted to be a hacker, then this is the game for you. It is the (not offocial or even made by the same company) sequel to uplink. So if your a fan of that, then I greatly suggest playing it. The only downside I found, was they updated the game and then didn’t update the tutorial, so it’s a bit of the mark on what to do. You can find it here to play online, or here to download. If you wish to find me on there, (I play most every day) my name is aCOS, so meet up with me and you can talk to a real life game developer.
That’s all for this week, check back next week for this again.
