The model being spread around is used for the starting cutscene.
People saying it's used in the museum are wrong aswell.
The one in the museum is a way lower detailed version of the full map.
The actual Map is Split into parts / chunks, as first discovered by me (I think)

This is what the game displays these chunks at when you're further away, along with lower resolution textures to save on some resources.
