I feel like the addition of Joltbux and quests are being used as an excuse not to try and innovate anymore.

For several years, GameJolt hosted an annual Halloween event featuring the "GameJolt Monster." The goal was to feed it stickers to watch it grow, which was a genuinely enjoyable event that many people looked forward to. However, in October 2023, when quests were first introduced, there was no sign of any Halloween-related or GameJolt Monster-themed content. Instead, we were presented with an underwhelming quest that failed to excite. It's clear why it was underwhelming, especially when compared to the innovative GameJolt Monster, which actually motivated people to engage with stickers.

PART TWO. THE WASTED POTENTIAL OF FIRESIDES

Firesides were a promising feature that could have opened up a new audience for the platform. Unfortunately, after a while, the service was shut down due to a lack of funds. I believe that the shutdown could have been prevented if the GameJolt developers had implemented a donation or super chat system, or supported a streaming tool other than OBS. Overall, the whole experience was a massive waste of potential.
