I just want to talk about Lucid for a moment.

Big ramble warning:

Strap in and get the ChatGPT summarizer.

SOMEWHAT SENSTIVE CONTENT WARNING! YOU'VE BEEN WARNED!

(also slight omori spoilers if you have more than two brain cells :P)

So Lucid. Some loved it, some hated it. And one left a very funny review via the Google Form, calling it a dumpster fire. Great stuff!

But meh, people have their opinions and it's not my place to try and change the way they think. I'm just here to make games in my free time so the brain rot doesn't get to me anymore than it already has.

But Lucid is quite the interesting project because I have two choices for the narrative.

1: Continue with what story I have now, but remake the game with all custom assets because of some certain someones who wouldn't shut their trap about it.

(Everyone on this platform is cool, but some people could just be a tad nicer with their words, including me. The internet is a weird place and I'm just a part of it. :P)

2: I completely perform surgery on the story to fit a new concept that wouldn't be made for a while. With custom assets, of course.

So, what is this great new concept I have in my noggin?

Jacob is a psych ward paitent.

No, I am NOT kidding. So, for those of you who've played the demo, you'll understand that Jacob has a form of repressed trauma/past he has yet to face, and hence, he lucid dreams as a coping mechanism.

Now you may ask,

"Link, how the [[HYPERLINK BLOCKED]] did you come up with the PSYCH WARD as a story concept???"

Honestly, blame the YouTube algorithm. One day, it just showed illymation's video about her psych ward experience to me and said:

"Hey, ain't this cool?!"

-YT Algorithm 2025

And off I went down the rabbit hole of people telling their stories of when THEY went to the fable psych ward. And I honestly found it VERY INTERESTING to see people share these stories, good and bad.

And so what did I get out of all that? Well, when you think of a psych ward, chances are it looks something like this:

mspuff.webp

And this is almost COMPLETELY WRONG!

In (most/good) psych wards, you'll be in what is essentially a baby-proof hospital kinda thing where chairs are heavy so nobody can throw them, door handles are designed so nobody can pull an OMORI and become a Christmas tree decoration, if you know what I mean.

(Please, if you have worked or been in a psych ward, correct me according to your experience if you are comfortable.)

So, YT creators that have been to psych wards are displeased with how these facilities are represented in media today.

So, long story short, THIS IS THE PART WHERE I COME IN!

What I want to do is reach out to some of these creators directly and get more details about their experiences so Lucid can represent psych wards correctly.

The lucid dream world would be almost the same and the real world would be a day in the psych ward, interacting with other patients and making connections in the unlikely scenario.

Now if I do go through with this, it would be a very long process. Talking to people, doing research, interviews, and a lot more. I'd also like to wait til I'm at a point in my life where this could be developed easier, with a team and such.

So, what do you think? I'm not doing a poll as I don't think it'd do this justice, but I am very interested to see what you all think.

In the end it's MY game and concept, and I don't know how clear I've made this, but Lucid is a very personal project to me. As for why? That's mt story to tell and I don't feel like telling it.

Here's illymation's video. It's very nice.
