pls ask before using my art

Article = (Game Development Stuff Post (really long))

I am in a phase of burnout with game development (kinda. especially ChibidokiTale Phase 2 tho)

i just don't know what to add for attacks and dialogue.

with the dialogue bit, it kind of has to sound like something Chibidoki would actually say, but still in a more serious tone than normal as its Phase 2 of the game and she refuses to spare you (she quite literally kills the mercy button actually) so thats one thing.

the second thing with attack patterns, i have to learn to make a good enough battle engine but this time for Construct 3

(if you want to know why i like visual game engines, its because i never learned to type fast, it takes more math, and i have dyscalculia which makes, well, math really difficult for me. this is also why i only used 3 variable things and multiples of broadcasting code blocks (which is usually not the case when making things like this in scratch/turbowarp))

---------------------------------

With that out of the way, here are some ChibidokiTale Phase 1 References/Easter Eggs

  • 2 menu buttons are Ink!Sans colors (blue + yellow) as a little reference of my favorite Sans AU,

  • text box "saying im loud and want to be your friend" (something Chibi says a lot on her socials),

  • in the same text box it shows the Sans version of the battle sprite,

  • if you press "X" the window changes its name to "IM YOUR FRIEND NOW" (downloaded version)

  • when you press the Gaster Blaster menu option, its text boxes use earthbound style text refrencing undertales inspiration,

  • if you press the "???" menu button, it brings you to Itch-io with "Asgore Runs Over Dess" Lyrics,

  • if you die, the screen goes to the twitch ban screen, the "Browse Channels button is replaced with "Create New Account" as a way of determination*

*(fun fact i wanted to make a trophy that was titled 'I wouldn't call that determination' but i scrapped it)

Scariest moment of my life holy shi- so i accidentally sent my almost complete Mari Yume sprite to somebody to show my progress, but i accidentally sent it to ForzaSans... very scary lmao.

i have the habit of not planning ahead for anything game development wise (like, not planning any attack patterns or dialogue) and just end up going with the flow. but that usually works out for me.

So I did the math... True InkTale will be a 23 minute fight... Yeah, based on the playlist of music I made for it, it came to around that time so to anybody who plays it all the way through, especially in Hard Mode, good luck, you're gonna need it.

Dev Update - February 2026

I stopped using backdrops as broadcast blocks because well... thats not how backdrop blocks are supposed to be used. and overtime it gets more complicated to develop. although, it makes things a lot less laggy! yes this is some of my oldest code

We played Dark Sanctuary with my orchestra!

I fear this image is telling the truth. I did do and say that. for reference, I had a piece of pizza in my room, that was 3 days old mind you, my cat ate all of the cheese off of it, so i took it, as it was stale, and hit it on my head, shattering it :3

My favorite kind of hell. Majora's Mask. A very dark game as you are a freakin 10 year old trying to stop the moon from crashing down to earth in 3 days. having to find the four giant thingies, to stop the moon, and all, its cool.

Happy Devruary! Devruary Day 6 celebrates @Narwhalnut ! They program bugs (in the game Insectile)! We also have a question for the devs of Game Jolt: What dev habit helps you the most?

favorite part about game development is the idea that firstly, you can create worlds at will & have fun with them, but i also like when people just make something up and that becomes something in your brain like, "Hey, i can make that!" its cool
