Little story time:
Believe it or not, but fnaf is really what connected me with that friend, and we’ve became life long friends to this day. I remember swapping out from a private school after 4th grade and moved over to a public school in 5th. I was lonely, sad, had zero friends, and was considering going the homeschool route. Until one day while in class, I was drawing a picture of Withered Bonnie, the kid next to me noticed and began talking to me, we quickly became friends because of our interests. Fnaf, Destiny, Cod Zombies, we would talk for hours. But the main thing we loved doing was drawing Fnaf characters in and out of class.
After the launch of Fnaf 4, we both began anticipating the possibility of what a Fnaf 5 could look like and decided to sketch up our own ideas.
I won’t go into details regarding story, because it’s cringe looking back at it, but I will mention the first “chapter” or level.
We believed that the game would be centered around an old cabin in the woods near the decaying fnaf 2 location. The main character was taking his child to what used to be his favorite childhood pizzeria, but upon arrival, its doors were closed, despite the online display clearly stating that it indeed was still open. They had to turn back and go home, but then their car broke down in the nearby forest, the two were forced to shelter in an abandoned cabin with no phone service. That of which is when “Night 1” began.
It’s hard to remember what the mechanics were or what happened. But the image above is definitely is connected to this memory I have. Withered Bonnie (at the time we called “Old Bonnie” for some reason) standing in the forest with the car in the background.
Looking back at those memories I realize how unrealistic and honestly dumb our story was. Like it got crazy (I’m talking car chases and everything lmao). It also connected to nothing within the known fnaf canon. There was no way fnaf 5 would be anything near what we theorized. But I cherish having made those memories and drawn these pictures. It also reminds me what fnaf really truly means to me. I don’t strictly criticize the direction these games go, because looking back, these games, the stories, provided me with countless childhood memories. It inspired me to pursue art, which in turn helped me reach this point.
It’s crazy how far fnaf has come. And more importantly what it has done for me and thousands of other people. So in a way, happy super late 11th anniversary fnaf! Anyways that’s all for today, have a good one y’all!
