I've had quite a lot of people ask why I even bothered making a "teaser" for False BB (and previously False Freddy) when his design has already been revealed. That's a fair question - I'll answer it here because I do plan on releasing more images like this.

Put simply, it's because basic, easily sharable, and often creepy images like this do a great job at reaching new people. Traditional scottgames-style teasers are much better at reaching FNAF fans who aren't already familiar with POPGOES. Judging by some analytics, these images get more reach than devlogs, gameplay screenshots, merch updates, memes, etc. They are low effort (though require some creativity) but are evidently great at promoting the game.

I did an experiment on TikTok this week - I shared a fanmade fancam/edit of the revealed False animatronics. And it got 300,000 views and 40,000+ likes. For reference, I uploaded a bunch of custom videos of POPGOES Arcade gameplay and none of them exceeded 20,000 views. But I'm not dumb, I know that FNAF fans are going to be more interested in animations of monstrous FNAF animatronics than pixelated RPG gameplay. But still, 300,000 views for a fancam of the Falses (and it was sensitivity-restricted after a few days for some reason... it might have hit half a million by now if it wasn't).

But this logic applies to other platforms like Reddit, Game Jolt, and Twitter. When I shared the POPGOES Evergreen office gameplay preview to Reddit, it got 30 upvotes (yikes). The Valentine's cards got 160 upvotes (better...) and the new False BB teaser had two fan posts with 430 and 1,040 upvotes. That's pretty great in 2024, especially for a game like POPGOES.

I've been told time and time again, by friends and fans, that the majority of Evergreen's marketing has been designed to please people who are ALREADY fans of the series. Things like the fanart showcases, merch, spinoffs, etc. And they are right. So I'm making an effort to share basic content that is deliberately designed to appeal to the wider FNAF audience, to let them know "Hey, we're making a pretty cool fangame that is literally about a retelling of the Bite of '87! It has a new set of animatronics but also literal Nightmare-Toys! It's awesome!"

If you're already a POPGOES fan, it's true that some of these images may be a bit boring since you're already familiar with the material. But look at the replies of these GJ posts and tweets and you'll see lots of new people very creeped out, curious, excited.

THAT is why I'm doing this!

The Vaults in POPGOES Evergreen were overhauled in mid-2023 to be simpler, scarier, more realistic, and more familiar for FNAF fans. Prior to this change, they each functioned a bit like complex, 360-degree escape rooms. (2022-2023) (ARTICLE)
