Alright so, im gonna point out 2 things first that people need to understand:
Popular=bad argument and the new fans.
I have long stayed away from the Fnaf comunity due to the amount of weird shit and toxicity, people are creative yes, some are even the best people you could meet, but sure due to it being a very old game by now, almost reaching its 10 anniversary next year it sure has a pretty big fanbase and its still growing. For the old fans like i am either had what it is called a "fnaf phase" of their own childhood, these were back when fnaf 1 through fnaf sister locations were on the rise, the game launches between was small and each installment brought new hype for each game released so the franchise was always up and running, but as the fnaf 6 days came out people from that phase were slowly dying out from fnaf content either being it too much due to the constant games or never ending lore that at the time it didnt make too much sense.
And aswell with this fnaf phase up and running in the 2014-2017 was burning hot from content specifically for fnaf, came fangames, game hoaxes, animations and those old animatronic videos where they would just repair or make a whole new animatronic through photoshop for some reason. Along with these things rumors were spreading around that a fnaf movie was in the making, now idk if it was real or not but at the time from what ive heard a studio did try to make a fnaf movie but dropped the idea.
After 2020 i could say that a new wave of fnaf fans and fangames were starting to grow, that leading to a lot of good content outside of just fnaf and having a mix of their own or controversies... this is the point that the fnaf comunity has started to have a bit of a burnout for some of the people from that comunity, sure it wasnt for all of us but im pretty sure that the amount of things Scott made was starting to get a bit too much to catch up to the point that a new fan would just dont understand the story as it used to be back then or the amount of books and games they had to catch up was... a hard road ahead. That being said, little over a year or two Security breach came out and it had its own positives and negatives, more books came out and it was the first installment of actuall fnaf movie news. Personally i didnt believe it at first myself since back in the day the rumors were just that, rumors.
I, myself feel like with security breach and the new wave of fans in the comunity brought up some rather odd expectations for the fnaf movie, fnaf 1 was scary and still is for some people but from a general person perspective it really didnt have much from story, game mechanics and layout. The new fnaf movie is good, the old fans nowadays came back just to watch this movie since fnaf was a part of their childhood and its a very good movie both from an inside and outside perspective.
Anything popular or trending in the internet will have a hate side no matter what and fnaf is a big example. The people outside of the comunity or just the haters of fnaf, really just scream out the "popular=bad" argument of the internet either through just hating it for the sake of the attention it brought up or trying to put up a bad reputation (and im also implying that for the absurd critic score that the "critics" put up on rotten tomatoes or imdb), as for the new wave of people in the comunity, im not saying you guys are bad and all, but lower your expectations a bit, not eveything has to be action filled or just story/game and thats it, the film had a balance and i dont think you would want a film that is just like the gameplay of fnaf 1 through a third person perspective of the protagonist or a drama type film with fnaf characters.
The fnaf movie is just good overall, it was a long wait for years for the old and new people of the indulged into the games or story of the franchise. You should appreciate the fact that atleast we have a movie of it finally than waiting for much longer. Also just dont try to ruin other people's fun just beacause you got a neck pick with the franchise, people waited years for this kind of stuff to come out and having an outlash at it either makes you look stupid or youll gonna be in hot water by the whole comunity at your neck after (call back to yesterday's event at a theater screening the fnaf movie, that fight was started by a hater, it wasnt a suprise he got beat up by the whole theater just for a comment).
