I have tried to make the very first level and I realised that I had to figure out how I will go about making levels. There at least two ways to make levels, that I can think of. First method is modelling levels in Maya and then import the into Unity and set the colliders. However this would mean that if I wanted to make any changes to the level, I would have to open it in Maya and edit it there. This is not as precise since I wouldn’t have characters and other parts of environment to judge changes against.
Instead I chose to go with the second method, which is to make tiles in Maya and then use those tiles to build levels in Unity. While this can be seen as a more messy way of doing it, I prefer it since it allows me to make changes to the level as I am testing it without having to switch between programs. The prefabs of the tiles use models from Maya and whenever I make a change to the original model, it also makes a change to all the instances of the prefab. The disadvantage of course is that there are a lot of game objects to deal with, but I will stick with it because of how convenient it is.
P.S. - this was supposed to be posted yesterday, but gamejolt was down for me for some reason
