ok so in case you didn't know, "Dusttale don't forget" is one of my biggest projects so far (right along side GIGASAS V2) this game is like any other dusttale take except like i expanded the story a thousand times 🥔
the game will have 2 sides built in to it, the first is the usual undertale battle and the second is basically an undertale based metroidvania where you explore the void and its many areas and history.
now, the inspiration 🥔
nine sols
nine sols is a very high difficulty metroidvania game, the overall game is excellent however the difficulty is a bit too much for my targeted audience. witch is why I'm taking inspiration from its story rather then game play 🥔
now it's not like I'm just gonna copy paste nine sols story, you'll just find some similarities in one of the arcs in one of the areas of "Dusttale don't forget". i also plan on picking up some small mechanics that i really liked all around the game 🥔
DTLG: Dusttale last genocide
dtlg is one of my favorite UT fan games, in my opinion it's one of the best in the community.
i wanna take inspiration not from its story but from the relationship between sans and gaster they have here, well except it won't be exactly the same? i can't really say anything else otherwise I'll be spoiling some pretty big things 🥔
i also love some smaller details in the way they handled the battle witch i will be taking notes from as well 🥔
i have no mouth and i must scream
not taking shit from this things story or concept, however i do wanna take notes on the way this book managed to make its readers feel things through text alone, I'll be having a lot more then just "text" at my disposition to make yall feel disturbed and yet i think following this books example can still be VERY beneficial 🥔
hollowknight
pretty self explanatory, I'm making a metroidvania game so obviously I'm gonna be taking notes from the king of said janra. I'm mainly gonna be taking examples from the way hollowknight masterfully designed its map and there repeated use of the "show don't tell" rule to explain the games story 🥔
blasphemous
guilt is a very important part of blasphemous, the same way it will be in "Dusttale don't forget" well not exactly the same way but you get my point.
I'm not gonna say anything else cz blasphemous is my MAIN source of inspiration for this game soooooo ye 🥔
SP!dusttale
pretty obvious, the game was first called "SP!dusttale don't forget" after all 🥔
there are gonna be 2 endings to my game, 1 of them will be pretty much just sp!dusttale but with extra steps (extra steps being the hole metroidvania thing) and the second ending i won't be talking about at all but it has nothing to do with sp!dusttale 🥔
oh and the necroptosis is a thing in both endings so that's 1 more similarity 🥔
that one fucking panel from undertale
ye, that's it. I've noticed that the UT community didn't really explore the hole WAR thing between humans and monsters, so i will 🥔
this is the main reason why i stopped calling my game an "SP!dusttale fan game" because in addition to the hole sp!dusttale inspired story, the monster/human war will be a VERY important part of the plot SPECIALLY in the second ending.
Dusttale don't forget
although this game is taking LOTS of inspiration from different sources, i still wanna make it clear that it's gonna be its own thing rather then a cheap copy of all the awesome content above.
still don't get your hopes up, if yall start expecting this game to be as good as something like hollowknight, blasphemous or nine sols then I'm kinda fucked 🥔
me and the team will be doing our best to make this game, i just hope yall will enjoy it when it comes out in 10 years 🥔
