Looks like it's Ryo's day today! His KOF15 trailer dropped. In honor, here is a Pocket Fighter EX style color test for him! Plus the classic NeoGeo Pocket Color style. I also threw in the gloved/Mr. Karate II version, since that is my favorite.

Apparently you can soft-lock Mega Man & Bass

(I didn't save, so I'm cooked for this playthrough.)

It's been a lot of work to make Unreal Engine 5 do various "2D Retro Effects" but there's progress made.

This one is actually manipulating a Paper Tilemap layer in real time, not a solid texture.

I am now an Unreal Engine developer. Even if Unity Engine walks every word back how could anyone trust them again? Do we continue on where at any moment they can retroactively change the rules? I will not live under that fear. I'm done with them. Deets

Here's a fun weekend post. A while back I tried to animate Ryu in his new Street Fighter 6 costume in NeoGeo Pocket Color style. I quite like the result! (This will NOT be featured as a costume in PFEX though, I did it just for fun.)

I updated the 1-Up sprite to increase visibility in game. The face now shines with the shimmer. #pixelart #gamedev #megaman

The wavy background effect can do both directions, even at the same time. (FPS is low because it's playing in Editor.)
