Mancers Memos nr. 1 - A New Name

Hi! Thanks for checking out the first Mancers Memo.

Because the Devlogs we've done in the past always tended to cover a million different topics, we've decided to set up Mancers Memos. Contrary to the Devlogs, these are gonna be (hopefully shorter) messages about a single subject, like an update, a change or something else that's new in the game that we can't show to you in an image.

Today's Topic:

Names! Or at least one really important name!

Slowly but surely, we're hammering out more and more of the world of Mancers: One More Floor and the characters and factions in it. These all, of course, need names.

For the main enemies of the game we already had a name, cause they are the Mancers from the title. What we didn't have though was a cool name for the good guys who fight the Mancers, a.k.a. the faction that the player will join.

We tried a lot of names in the last couple of months, for example we thought of Executioners, Hunters or Trackers, but none of them really felt like a good fit.

We needed something else. Something starting with an...

So we settled on the name Marauders. Just like in real life, the Marauders in the game spent most of their time looking for targets to take down, riches to gain and Dungeons to raid.

In contrast to real marauders though, those in the game are not always criminals or murderers. But it does often happens that former henchmen and helpers of Mancers join the ranks of the Marauders, either to change their ways or to save their own skin. So the Marauders do end up to be a ragtag group of characters, often with a spotty past. So we picked a name that's just as spotty to go with that.

TL;DR

We've picked a name for the good guys in the game and the faction that the player will join in Mancers. They're going to be called Marauders.

So if you see the name Marauders or the green M-symbol on anything in posts to come, know that's stuff that has to do with the good guys.

As always, if you're still here thank you so much for taking the time to read this. If you want to stay up to date on the progress of Mancers: One More Floor you can go to our page here and follow the game.

We've got a some cool new stuff to show you in these memo's in the coming weeks, so stay tuned!

Talk to you later!
