March 1st Developer Update!


Hello everyone!

I hope you don't mind the quiet. I don't talk much, but rest assured that Therapeutic Voyage is very much alive! I figured it would be good form to show off some stuff I've done since the announcement trailer released! Speaking of which, if you haven't seen it yet, you can check out the trailer by clicking these words here!
Anyway, here's some progress I've made!

A lot of development recently has been on rooms. I predict this is going to take up the majority of development for a while.

This is Monster-Kid's house! I don't think it's ever made clear in Undertale where Monster-Kid lives. You meet them in Snowdin, but a lot of their screen time is in Waterfall, and they idolize Undyne who also lives in Waterfall. Anyway, in this story M-Kid lives in Waterfall, and the bioluminescent flora of the area has grown all over the house. I love the look of ivy growing over buildings. It gives a sense of one-ness with the world.

Another stand-out feature is a large bay window. Bay windows are the greatest innovation of architectural design, and all buildings would be improved by their inclusion. All of them.

And here is the interior of the house! I had a lot of fun drawing the smaller details here to make the house feel lived-in. Also, do you notice any peculiarities in the house? Take a good look.

Did you find any? Like none of the doors having knobs or everything being low to the ground? That's because many monsters in the Underground don't have arms, and this house is designed with such monsters in mind!

Next I'll be showing off a couple characters!

SNAPDRAGON is in full bloom!

This is one of the friends/enemies you'll encounter on the voyage. No points for guessing she'll attack with various plant and fire magic. I really like coming up with creature designs. It's a lot of fun!

And here is Monster-Kid's older sister! If you're like me, and you have no life and are obsessed with UT/DR, you might know that M-Kid canonically has an older sister. She doesn't appear anywhere, nor is there much information on her, so I basically have free reign to do whatever I want with the character. She'll appear early on and teach M-kid (and you) how to use monster magic in battle.

Alright, that's the end of this Development Update! There's plenty more where that came from, but I can't show off everything! Some of this stuff has to stay a surprise!

Let me introduce you to the new Mech line: Gendai Spec. Those are Mech that specializes in surprise attacks, covered operations, and stealth. They are equipped with melee weapons but one of Gendai's frames supports sniper rifles.

2d lighting experiment

Some time ago, we posted a screenshot of the Mexico level. A curiosity about it is that, like some other scenarios of the game, it was inspired by a real landscape, The Basaltic Prisms of Santa María Regla. It is one of the natural wonders of the country!
