Not the glitch jam, but here's an update

So, I wasn’t able to complete my entry for the glitch jam (had other stuff going on). However, I couldn’t just leave people empty-handed. So here, have an update for Finding Love!

This was originally a Ludum Dare entry, but I didn’t change too much after LD to upload it here. This update, on the other hand, will be quite a bit different from the original LD entry. The simple changes are improved graphics, music working on internet explorer (hopefully), and click/swipe controls if you don’t want to use a keyboard. The improved graphics are for the GUI and battle room.

The major change is the counter-attack system. Before, an icon would flash above you, and you had until the enemy decided to attack to counter him. However, this could vary from a few frames to a second, and didn’t really bring out a challenge or use for the system. I improved upon this by having a “time freeze.” Essentially, time will briefly stop allowing you, the player, to pull off the counter attack. I also made sure harder enemies gave you less time to counter them (hard mode also gives you less time). This way, the harder enemies aren’t just beating you into the ground when its their turn to attack. If a few enemies gang up on you, then you’re probably not going to get a counter off. I feel like this gives a better “back and forth” action than earlier.

With that being said, I’m not quite done bringing out updates for the game. Changing the counter-attack system has brought about an odd collision bug, but it’s not game-breaking. I still want to improve upon some of the graphics, and I want to add in alternate battle tracks for the music. Since the majority of the game is spent battling, I feel like the current tracks can get old or annoying after some playing time. The guard behavior is currently a bit different for different guards, but I want to make them a bit more diverse than they currently are. I also want to add in a menu and perhaps a simple save system (the game doesn’t take too long to beat, but still).

Quantum precognition is one of the most powerful cards. End game cards & equipment. Demo/alpha build boss is no match for this deck.

Updated the chest in the maze, adding sound, particles and better animation. But what's in the chest?

In the quest for accessibility, I'm adding Resurrection Shrines for players on the 'novice' end of the platforming spectrum.

In order to unlock the power of a Shrine, you must collect 3 'Souls' from your dead corpses! (the floating blue orbs)

Back in my art school days I used to ride the 710 COPSA line from Parque Del Plata to Montevideo almost everyday. This is the Marcopolo Viaggio G4 Mercedes Benz model from the late 80s, one of the older bus models that was running on the line.

Showing off player 2 😎
