So like Shyam ever since they were a child, their father is like a huge fanatic and a high rank of the army and hates the spheas (the species the myocavia have been at war with) and basically would manipulate Shyam into the dad’s views and train them to fight for the war at a very young age, so by the time they turn into an adult they had already join to become a fanatic soldier of the myocavia army, who they believe could do no wrong

So like idk maybe like one mission they are sent to deal with an enemy camp and they wipe everyone out but there would be a confused sphea child defenseless and Shyam would be confused because they were taught from their dad that all spheas were “savages” even at birth, and they would feel guilt seeing a sphea that doesn’t fight back so they let the child go but then they’ll have a struggle with their loyalty to the cause or if what they were taught was exaggerated or not true at all

so they have a chance of breaking away for their dad’s views
