one of the issues expressed by my playtesters was that a viable strategy was simply spinning around and using the machine gun, especially on level 1


a solution i think could be useful is to have the machine gun fail every now and then and make sure that all enemies can be avoided or killed somehow during this time - it can be fixed via the engineer's wrench

additionally, i think adding multiple capture points would help (although i would likely add this in a level one revamp which would come much later...)
