Post-StencylJam17 Thoughts.

Hey there. The results for #stencyljam17 are out and “Cold Burn” hasn’t scored any places, but it doesn’t matter, since there’re lots of you who played the game, rated it and, maybe, even liked it. After those 10 days of work i have to say that the game definitely could turn out much better, but the concept itself was too hard to handle without any experience of building a game like that, specially in such a short time. Next time i participate in any jam, i’d try to simplify my ideas.

This particular game came out the way it did because of the time limits, lack of complete idea on paper and probably because of lack of self confidence. Regardless the end of judging process, i’ll still try to update some aspects of the game and make it more playable.

Probably the most thing i like about my game - is the pixel art. I always judge myself too harsh on the graphic aspects. It could be better, but i really like how that turned out.

In #stencyljam17 i would give my voice for @TedWennerstrm and his The Great Escape. I also don’t agree with Endless Mountain being on the second place since it has entered the contest after the deadline, but sure, it’s a great game anyway, so no beef.

Anyways, thanks for your time, i really, really appreciate it.

The game's development went to a little bit of a halt in August and I'm just starting now to slowly lay my hands back on it. A few things has been done already, as well as preparation of a Steam Page (just for the sake of it). Here's a buncha wip shots

Mandolin in my left hand, revolver in my right, whatcha gonna do about it.

Brewin

While I'm waiting for a feller of mine to finish his version of what "civillians" should look like for the game, I've decided to quickly put together a modular wooden hut. Whatcha think? (Yes, those are floating point lights, don't judge me)

Currently working on walking melee enemies AI. These fellas inhabit "The Great Well" and were somewhat normal in the past, but now they're greenish and angryish. Must be a flue.

Ocean of Mermaids gets almost frequent updates and seems that a stable demo/prologue is not that far off from being a thing.

Last week's progress wasn't much. I've started to implement dual wielding weapons, worked on a bunch of assets and began my quests/dialogues systems. I hope to get my hands on the first introduction quest until the end of this week, and maybe cave assets.

Something is brewing in that ocean of mermaids.

Trees definitely add a bit more depth to the environment as well as verticality and additional possibilities for points of interest. Invest in trees for your game!

"Our work is never over" they said.
