Project NOR, Whats Our Plan?

Hello there. Hopefully you’ve all been enjoying Project NOR.
Some of you might be wondering what the plans are for this game, and what we want it to become.

The goal is to be a fully immersive team building experience that forces you to conduct strategies with other players. Failing to follow a strategy ultimately will lead to your team failing as a whole.

If you rush as single person to try and fight two people, you can effectively stun them both, but they are still there, and can easily begin a pursuit after their stun is over and stun you before you reach or complete your goal. Even with teleporting an enemy player, you can only do so to one player before having to wait for a 20 second cooldown to finish. You’d either want to go in 2 vs 2 or 2 vs 1, and that requires teamwork. 1 vs 2 battles dont end well in this game.

Next, there wont be any sort of user stats. Instead, there will be team stats. You’ll get to see all the teams you’ve participated in, and stats on what the team used and did. Another amibitious goal is to pair players with other players they’ve statistically done well with. This hopefully allows for more competitive matches. Rather than always being with 100% random players, the game will in the future try to pair players who have been in winning teams with you previously. If none of those players are online or you haven’t been in a winning team yet, then it will be 100% random. Basically, the system will try to put together dream teams when possible.

In a way, the goal is to have a truly strategically competitive game. An FPS that ends up feeling like DOTA or League Of Legends in regards to teamwork and strategy, and to have a system that prunes and creates the best of the best teams.

This should be the game that forces you to have to get on voice chat just so you can coordinate.

Teamwork is something that isn’t quite enforced in the FPS genre, and Project NOR will hopefully be the solution we need. Its impossible to remember the last time voice chat in an FPS game was used for something other than stating how active a persons mother is in bed or what somebody’s sexual orientation is.

On a final note, as our secondary platform (aside from PC), we will be deploying to Wii U. Provided the PC and Wii U version of the game do well, we will also try to get on Xbox One and PS4. Linux and Mac OSX are on haitus until we can find a way to support controllers at a native level on said operating systems.

At some point, this game will also be a pay upfront game. This is unavoidable due to server hosting costs required for a multiplayer game like this. We want to avoid the free to play, pay to win model and character customization isn’t very relevant in this game. With that said, this wont be happening any time soon. If you keep up with the Alpha, and make an account once we finally roll that out as a feature, we’ll probably have it so accounts made after a certain date will be required to pay upfront. This “date” probably wont be set until we’re out of Alpha or require funding in order to keep up with player demand. I’ll make it 100% free for anybody with a gamejolt account to play the game however.

This is the overal plan for Project NOR. Thank you for reading!

Regards,
Sebastian Lawe
