Proof v0.5 is now released. It contains AI improvements, two quests and a combat system overhaul. Detailed changelog is available below:


AI:

  • Enemy NPCs which use ranged weapons now track the ammo they have in their weapons. If they realize they are out of ammo, they will run away to reload

  • The ranged enemy AI is now more aggressive and may react faster when they realize they cannot shoot you

  • Lowered the chance of an enemy NPC shooting at you through their ally (if the ally is standing in the line of fire for an extended amount of time). However, NPCs may accidentally damage their allies if they jump in front of their line of fire.

  • Fixed bug which causes NPCs to freeze in place after being shot by tranquilizer rounds multiple times

  • Enemies now heal themselves when their health is low, their chance of healing increases the lower their health is

  • Ranged enemies now have better accuracy when shooting

Gameplay:

  • Added a visible health bar over enemies when in combat

  • NPCs have an awareness system. Weapons now do physical or awareness damage (or both). If awareness is fully drained, NPC is stunned and the player can close in on him to do a non lethal takedown. Awareness recharges when NPCs aren't damaged with attacks.

  • When a person is unconscious, a player can track for how long the person is unconscious by looking at the person's awareness health bar

  • Player has an awareness system as well, getting hit lowers your field of vision. As your awareness recovers, your vision will recover.

  • Added "high resilience enemies" (marked with a red skull) - they can only be damaged if their awareness is drained

  • Player's health slowly regenerates after he is damaged - up to 80% of his max health can be recovered this way, full healing can be done by eating food in a restaurant/bar or going to the doctor

  • Health upgrades now increase player health by 50%

  • Reduced damage dealt by ranged enemies to make combat a bit easier

Weapon store:

  • Weapon damage is now shown in weapon descriptions for all weapons in the store

Economy:

  • Killing/ nonlethal takedown on enemies randomly spawned in the map rewards money to the player

Weapons:

  • Redesigned tranquilizer pistol logic:

    • Tranquilizer pistol does awareness damage only, and if the awareness is close to 0 the person will automatically lose consciousness

    • Tranquilizer pistol has shorter range

  • Grenades:

    • Grenades are now non lethal and they do guaranteed full awareness damage

Quests:

  • Added two quests in the game (one story and one tutorial), they are now accessible by pressing "New game"

  • Added a couple of secrets (quest consequences) hidden around the world

World:

  • Fixed building collision issues in Livingston
